Short term deal. Adds cover. Experienced defender. It's not ideal by any stretch of the imagination, but preferable to Enrique and Lucas at centre back and at very short notice? Yes please thank you. Good opportunity for him to get minutes and get himself a move in the summer so you'd imagine he will be chomping at the bit to put good performances in if he plays which is ideal, it's not like we've signed a player who is failing to get minutes at a top club who has years to run on his deal and doesn't really care if the move works out well or not- you would imagine his main motivation is getting out on that pitch and proving himself - so hopefully that is what transpires.

It is nice to get somebody in without it being in the press for days on end beforehand.

A sensible move for me. Hardly a world beater but preferable to Enrique at centre back.

He is here to add cover so thats ok but screams to me as a committee signing, like most of them. He isn't very good but if called upon then lets hope he can surprise us.

Thought he was going to be quality after his season at Swansea so interested to see what Klopp can get out of him.

That says more about you than about the signing. The number of loan signings available instantly with Premier League experience is very small. This is a signing made under extreme time pressure - and it is pragmatic. You cannot read much more than he was the best available with out a long term commitment.

Still he has got a last opportunity at a big club, and it is up to him to grab it...
