Made official

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-62292162

Now it's up to the cities to put forward their proposals.

Chippy tits would have been like a Joe Anderson in Gravy had he still been in office and had a chance at putting Liverpool forward for it.

Unfortunately it also seems like it will be made political with outgoing PM and lapdog Nadine Dorries already voicing support so expect a 'levelling up' city to get it.

Probably would have tried to fund and build a new stadium for it. Maybe on the docks or something.

Newcastle or Manchester will get it, despite Liverpool pursuing an interest we can't afford it unless all costs are covered somehow.

If the BBC are hosting then it will defo be Manchester. All their staff being there etc

Airport link is far stronger and the MEN arena is far better equipped than the echo to host.

Well everyone coming into Liverpool airport could always walk to South parkway and get a train if they are running. Lazy bastards.
We already have shit in the country, and the game of Liverpool fills life with joy. Thanks

BBC Scotland's studio is directly across the river from the Hydro and SECC in Glasgow... not quite the same as Manchester but not far off, and the Hydro is brand spanking new and probably the best equipped venue.

Also the government would love to have a huge event in Scotland where they can plaster the place in Union Jacks.....

Aberdeeb are bidding too in a desperate attempt to find a use for our brand new oversized arena but will never get it.

Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield have made the shortlist.

Manchester is probably the favourite

Manchester (home of the BBC now, good airport links, MEN arena more than capable)
Glasgow (COP 23 went well)

Then the rest in any order.

Liverpool wont win this unless Andy Burnham pulls Manchester out for lack of funding and the BBC doesn't want it in Scotland.

Sheffield has no chance because it’s one of the most depressing cities in England. Even the concrete looks bored. Birmingham just had the Commonwealth games, so won’t get another big event.

My guess is Manchester. Liverpool would be good but just don’t see it happening.

Not overly surprising Bristol never made the shortlist seeing as we’d have nowhere to host it.  Our genius of Mayor was intending to build a venue from scratch, despite scrapping two previous venues.

I think Liverpool have a great chance what with The Beatles and everything, I can imagine a French band dressed up as Sgt Pepper as I type.

Liverpool will be taking its bid seriously, I'm starting to fancy our chances now.
Check your diary if you have any gigs planned in the Arena for when the Euro is scheduled, the gig will have to be cancelled.

Would be brilliant for the city, I reckon. No better place for it. Might have to book a cancellable hotel in the city every one of the possible weekends ;D

It's either Liverpool or Glasgow

Really shocked Liverpool made the final 2.

Glasgow has to be the favourite at this point though it would be absolutely huge for the city if Liverpool got it. It's been a while since Liverpool hosted something of cultural significance (probably the giants)

I just want Liverpool to get just to think how disappointed Chippy tits would be that he's not in charge any more

Going to be announced tonight at 19:00 on the one show

Some people think it's been leaked as Glasgow due to Olly Murs tour dates being in the M&S Arena in May (same month as Eurovision), and you need 6 weeks clear for Eurovision

I didn't want to say in case I jinxed it but I've spent the day hoping that Ollie Murs thing was a misdirect with his tour dates having been lined up prior to the Eurovision development and his Liverpool show would end up being moved if needed. Presumably that will be the case. Either way, I'm happier at this news than I thought I would be.

There were loads of concerts going to be cancelled or rescheduled in Glasgow had they won this, as they wanted the site secure for about 8 weeks before it. Personally I'm quite happy it's not coming here, for the disruption alone. That COP26 thing was a bloody nightmare.
