If Davies ends up as a regular first team player for us then surely it would be the worth a chapter all on its own in any Moneyball type book. Even if not then having a physically robust (114 appearances over the past three seasons) and relatively experienced player that can cover as both central defender and left-back for £2m is still a great deal.

It reminds me a bit of when we signed Nicky Tanner from Bristol Rovers (his book is worth a read if anyone wants some late-Dalglish and Souness era nostalgia). The step-up in leagues was bigger for Tanner but the gulf between a top six Premier League side and the Championship is arguably bigger now than the gulf between the first and third divisions was in 1988.

There was a story about him going out on loan somewhere and when the team he went to lost badly, he actually ripped into these players whom he hardly knew! It kind of tells you from the off, he is someone who takes his performances seriously and certainly sounds as though he has the right mentality. Either way, its a great opportunity for him.

Played 47 out of 52 competive games as a 17/18 year old as a left back for League Two York City in 2014. Hes 25 now, but that's pretty fucking impressive. From all accounts, he looks like he's ready to take the step up. Liverpool football club tho, you either sink or swim. Good luck to him.

Stable, calm, not flash at all.

(to be honest, Holding HAS to be all that, with David Luiz the mad hatter next to him)

Comparison with Holding because they both are CBs, not fashionable, and bought for modest sums from lower league clubs.
Both (I hope!) solid, sensible CBs that do a job for the team.

I hate saying this but when you support a less successful club (sorry) then it is nice to see one of your players doing well. Hope Sepp does well there and helps them win promotion soon.
