Let's hope Atletico can get something tonight, as well as injecting a bit of their standard shithousery to wind City and Pep up. Anything but a win for City, and Pep may just start cracking over the next 7-8 days.

Wanda will be a cauldron for the 2nd leg and they'll show a bit more on the attacking side, i reckon this tie goes to penalties.

It's the away goals thing. Teams are going to play more often for a 0-0 away from home, as a score draw at home no longer see you out, but going to extra-time at home.

Losing 1-0 away is the same at losing 2-1 or 3-2, which generally used to be considered not a terrible result in an away game.

They have always been a defensive team under Simeone. Played for a 0-0, going home with a 0-1, and I am sure Simeone will be fine with it ...

They had 2 shots, both on target. Not seen them though.

As others have said, Atletico will be delighted with only losing 1-0. They're right in the tie, especially after we destroy City mentally on Sunday.

What teams? Only Atleti is afraid to attack. It makes zero sense. They act like they are this small time underdog minnow of a club when they are in the CL year after year and spend over 100 million euros on a single player all to play like that. Simeone is a weapon of the highest order. With his all black suit nonsense like he is a bond villain.  :no

All that being said, it is fucking hilarious City have to go to the Wanda with only a one goal lead three days after our match. And they are so SOOO desperate to win the CL. You could see it tonight. Pep throwing a water bottle after the goal.  :lmao

Well I thought Real were quite happy playing for a 0-0 away against PSG.
I don't think they'll be exactly bombing forward against Chelsea tomorrow either.

This is probably what Simeone was working on. As others have said, away goals mean nothing now, so there is no need to attack away, his best chance of making the CL Semi is to either get a 0-0 or a 1-0 defeat and then use every trick in the book. He will be confident that at home, they can get the tie to extra time, with either a 1-0 or a 2-1 win at least and do City then.

Simeone won't even approach the second leg differently. If anything he'll be worse. They'll just dive like mad around city's box and hope for a set piece goal or a penalty or whatever to take it to ET. Wouldn't rule that out at all.
3 midfielders minimum in the next window. And probably another young CB to boot.

Anything else is negligent.

Whether it works or not is beside the point now when I assess Simeone. The bloke has been doing it over a decade and they're still as boring as ever. We're discussing a team in the Champions League quarter finals here that had an xG of 0 for fuck sake. Imagine paying all that money to travel to Manchester, maybe stay in a hotel and pay for a ticket and you see your team do that? I'd give up watching Liverpool if we ever set him on and that's no exaggeration.

Simeone is more pantomime villain than Bond villain. All he needs is a top hat and a long moustache to twirl.

They're good at what they do and what they do is be a gang of bastards. They're the Wimbledon of the CL.

De Bruyne, Silva and Sterling all trying to dive their way to getting a penalty. You can guarantee Tierney will find a way to give one of them at the weekend.

If they dive for a pen (That Manchester born Taylor and his Manchester born mate will give) and it's a clear dive, I'd like to see Klopp take the players off and just leave

Probably the only way that PGMOL would get called out on their repeated actions. The Premier League and PGMOL couldn't ignore that.

They both went in high, that's factually correct, both tried to play the ball at height.  Doku with his foot, Mac Allister with his chest.

It's everything I hate in football, fucks knows how the Atleti fans stand it. Mad thing is, when they actually attack they are bloody good. They showed against us what they are capable of when they cut out the shit house stuff
Jurgen, you made us laugh, you made us cry, you made Liverpool a bastion of invincibilty, now leave us on a high - YNWA

Because its brought them success, 2 leagues, 1 copa del rey, 2 champions league finals in 10 years is pretty good, I do find it shit though.

The amount of dives in the box by city there :lmao

Its fucking nailed on. Abu Dhabi will get what they've paid for.
