Just posted the same in the Lallana thread so may as well just +1 this. If Hendo isn't ready to start I think it's time to change shape. Not ideal timing given how well the 4-3-3 has worked in big games. But what other option do we have? I don't think Coutinho has the legs to play midfield for us now, certainly not in a  high intensity game off the back of two international matches and a long flight, and if we do drop him back it means Firmino or Origi playing wide which hasn't worked in tandem at all.

I think Coutinho and Woodburn in the same side is far too lightweight in a game of this magnitude against a side that will be looking to rough us up at every opportunity.

Origi will come in, it's just a question of whether it's simply Coutinho dropping back and Firmino/Origi starting wide or a change of shape. I think Klopp will go with the former. Unless Hendo is fitter than we think but I can't see him starting.

The injury to Lallana just makes this even more difficult than it already is. Gini and Can the only fit midfielders, Lucas can not play in midfield, and if we do play with the trio of Hendo Can and Gini we are going to struggle if Can plays in Lallanas positon and Hendo as the 6.

Still, a lot of my concern is due to Can's poor form, but he has turned it around recently, so it may be worrying for nothing! And I realise Can was hampered a lot by injury too, which seems to be sorted.

At least now we may have Grujic to be an option off the bench, so it offers a little bit more flexibility to what they can do.

I'd start Grujic before I'd start Woodburn. Starting Woodburn in the derby would be insanity. At least Marko is a huge fucker, and has experience of a similarly hateful derby in Serbia. Doesn't really matter though as neither of them will be starting. Hendo will surely be back for this one, even if he's not quite 100%.

I feel we have two options with no Lallana:

1) If Henderson is fit enough, he takes his place in the box to box role.  Keep Emre Can in the DM role.

2) Put Coutinho into a midfield three, which is arguably his best role anyway.

I don't want to see a midfield of Henderson DM, Emre Can & Wijnaldum ahead of him.  It doesn't work.

I think so too, we did something similar with him for the OT game. Hopefully this time around he'll switch his position with Can.

Around this time last year Origi terrorized Everton before that thug Mori ended his season. He's getting unnecessary stick from some of our fans in my view but I think he might have a point to prove against them, calls for Woodburn to start in his place are a little far-fetched to me. A young kid making what I would believe to be his first Premier League start in a vital derby game? He could well swim and not sink but I think Origi for Lallana and Coutinho dropping deeper is the sensible play here.

I'd also start Grujic. We bought him for a reason and with 2 midfielders out it would make sense to play him. I think he would be well up for a derby. Another option, like others have said, is to put Coutinho there. That really depends on how he comes back from that long trip (as well as Firmino). Grujic, Can and Gini and midfield with the usual 3 up front. If no more injuries occur. Both sides will be missing players and after an international break I don't think we'll see any semblance of our usual rhythm, or theirs. It will probably be a really scrappy game with 1 goal winning it.

Firmino has to stay central, now even more so after the Lallana injury. It's a massive call but I would play Woodburn in the Lallana role. Obviously he won't be as effective but I don't see many other viable options. I'm not normally one to suggest throwing youngsters in like that but Origi has been dire recently, Hendo isn't fully fit and Lucas simply cannot be trusted. Our best bet imo. Hendo as DM and Can further forward is completely out of the question because it does not work.

Grujic isn't up to speed with English football as it is without throwing him into a Merseyside derby severely lacking match fitness. It would be very unfair on the boy to do so and I doubt it'll happen anyway. I think it's more likely we'll see a midfield three of Hendo, Can and Gini. Or Phil will drop back into midfield and young Divok will play up top.

I dont see how Woodburn gets a nod ahead of Grujic, in this type of match. More than likely Hendo will start and we will play with Can and Gini as well. I just hope that Can stays in the same position and Henderson players in Lallanas role
