It's the fact that he's been woeful on the pitch, and is subsequently going out and getting smashed which is the concern.

He's a professional footballer getting paid tens of thousands a week to look after his body and health so he is able to perform on the pitch.

It's his fucking job. And after his showing on Sunday, this just further illustrates his unprofessionalism and shite attitude and mentality.

Maybe, just maybe - one of the reasons for the lack of goalscoring/ability/physical presence is due to the stupidity of letting off steam regularly as part of the training regime..

He is not up against the donkeys of the championship now..

Don't think that is quite true - think he said that it was normal to have a drink during his time, and I'd think he wouldn't oppose team-bonding drinking or celebrating of winning a trophy or something like that.

The issue here is that it seems like Carroll's way to deal with frustration (bad game, accusations of diving, having his home ground booo him constantely) is getting smashed. That's not a good idea for anybody, but much less for a professional athlete. If it's a one off, maybe there's no problem, but if it becomes something more regulary, it'll lead to problems. Maybe he needs a talk with someone like Barton who seems to have overcome alcohol-related problems. In any case, it's probably something for the club to deal with, and not us.

Well maybe not getting drunk, but Kenny said in his book that he has no problem with players going out and having a drink.

In contrast, Pepe said in his book, one time after a match he ordered a beer and Rafa told the waiter he's not allowed to have one.

How do you know that? From what I heard (which may not be true) he just likes to go out and get drunk period. There have been reports of him at bars before right? I doubt he only got drunk because of 'frustration'.

But after your side has been thoroughly beaten, and you have embarrassed yourself, your Club, and your manager, the last thing you should be doing is making a public show of yourself.

I don't know it, that is why I said "it seems like". But he clearly didn't have a good time on Sunday, and then apparently got smashed the next day. It's not good, whether there's a causal link or not.
