Tainio playing well again in midfield. Contiunally annoys me that he's criminally underused at Spurs. He's a much better player than Zokora

Hopefully he'll play on saturday.

He was brilliant in the first half. Looked really fit. Let's hope he can make his debut next weekend.

Think we'll find the hustle and bustle of a Premiership relegation battle will be too much for him.
Legend though, and we made nowhere near enough use of his talent.

THE BIGGEST reason for me. No matter how crap Heskey and Murphy were, Litmanen never was given a run of games. Amazing goal against Spurs only to find himself from the bench for the next game  :no

I think he has said he wants to concentrate on wearing the red shirt during the season rather then go to meaningless friendlies.

Aah I see, hadn't heard much about that.

Delighted for Jari, hope to see him make his debut for Fulham soon.

Looks like he won't be debuting this weekend. Roy's not too happy seeing Jari playing in the national team, and not showing enough commitment for Fulham, he feels.

As much as I liked Jari as a player did Hodgson, or does he, think that Jari will keep Fulham afloat?

When he signed him he wasn't fit and if he hasn't been fit/playing for Fulham why did he not stop him playing for Finland?
If Kenny Dalglish had simply played football for Liverpool he would be an Anfield hero. However, the fact that he managed the club to even greater success guarantees him the status of a legend.

I'm not surprised Hodgson is pissed off to be honest. Litmanen always seemed to make the same miraculous international comeback when he was still playing in Sweden. Crocked for weeks at club level but as soon as an international match came around, he was fit again.

True. Although Hodgson knew that when he signed Litmanen. He just says that to keep fans happy, I think.

Another side of the issue is that he is so important for Finland that he'll always play if there's any possibility for that whereas clubs tend not to use not-so-match-fit players

The King is back. Litmanen signed for his hometown club FC Lahti for a second time and made his debut today. Litmanen came on on 56th minute and he scored twice and set up two goals as FC Lahti trashed Kups 8-1. Litti scored his first goal from penalty spot and his second goal a fucking beauty: got the ball outside the box and took a few steps and chipped the ball over the keeper.

He might be 37 but he is still class.

Absolute fucking legend.
If I needed an extra reason to hate your club, it would be how criminally underused he was at Anfield. :)

I'll be taking advantage of being in Finland and watching him play against FC Honka at the end of the month.
Hope they twat Lahti but Jari gets a hattrick. ;D
If it bothers you that much that your wife couldn't join the 'Coloured Society', I suggest you divorce your wife and marry a black woman.  Problem solved.

He would have played much more but for unfortunate injuries which have blighted
the second half of his professional career.

You're right there mate but he did seem to have a lot of niggles when he was at Anfield.
He played his part in the treble winning side but sadly didn't get to play in any of the finals.
But like most in this thread, I loved the guy, he's one of the most gifted footballers

Fucking right mate on all counts. It was Owen and Heskey up front. But we could have gone with Fowler and Jari. It would have been like Rush and Dalglish!

He didnt though mate. Or not as many as you think he did. I did the tannoy for the ressys and saw him play week in week out. He scored 5 v Bradford, with a certain Lee Sharpe playing for them. He would have had 6 bar the keeper saved it with his face!
