Always had a soft spot for Monchengladbach, they have ties to us and I was there in 2012, amazing atmosphere. But ideologically its hard to not like Union Berlin

Manuel Nauer has extended his contract at Bayern apparently, till 2023.

Also Lukasz Piszczek is staying at Dortmund another season  :)  He was going to retire end of this season, but I guess with everything that's gone on, and the fact that he's been injury free and playing regularly and playing really well, he's putting those plans away for a bit!

Piszczek is fantastic, what a player he's been for Dortmund over the years, absolute class, he was up there with the best right backs in Europe for a good while, but didn't really get the recognition I don't think back then.

The flowchart is good. Thing is, you can pick any German club and you wouldn't go too far wrong. Some clubs just come with perpetual mediocrity attached :D

Pretty sure he's out for weeks with an injury, so he's likely done at Bayern regardless, so extending a loan to cover the late finish of the season may not be necessary.

No idea what happens next for him! Chelsea was the club I've seen linked with him most recently.

Poor Alex Nubel.  ::)

Piszczek was an attacking player who didn't really pull up any trees at Hertha. His transformation into a dependable full back for the last decade is amazing and thanks to Kloppo  8)

Bundesliga: Dynamo Dresden return two more positive coronavirus tests

German second-tier side Dynamo Dresden have returned two more positive tests for coronavirus.

The Bundesliga 2 club put their entire squad and coaching staff into isolation for two weeks on 9 May after two players tested positive.

Another player and the partner of a member of the coaching staff have also now tested positive for Covid-19.

They will be placed under further quarantine, but the team will still resume training from Saturday.

"The Dresden Health Department acted absolutely responsibly and correctly by quarantining our team at home, because it enabled us to break an infection chain within our team at an early stage," said Dresden's team doctor team Onays Al-Sadi.

The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 both restarted on Saturday, 16 May - the first major European league to resume after the coronavirus shutdown - but Dynamo Dresden did not play because their players were isolating.

When they can return to action, only about 300 people - including players, staff and officials - will be inside or around the stadiums on matchdays.

BBC doesn't mention it, but I'm pretty sure the reason Dynamo Dresden isolated as a team is because the local authorities in Saxony required this. Germany is a federal system. This wouldn't be applicable in the UK. And clubs in the Bundesliga have already said only the impacted player would be isolated

Now this is interesting

Quote
The head of Germany's football association says the sport must look at introducing salary caps and slashing agents' fees, after the coronavirus exposed problems in football's business model. And he didn't stop there.

With the eyes of the footballing world turned on Germany in the wake of the Bundesliga's return last weekend, one of the most powerful men in the sport has set out a five point plan for the DFB, Germany's football association.

Fritz Keller, DFB president since last September, said he believed the coronavirus pandemic demanded that Germany, and football more broadly, reassess the sport's relationship with money.

"We must bring professional football closer to the people again. We have to think about a salary cap," Keller said in a statement released Tuesday on the DFB's website. "I will be in contact with my colleagues at national and international level as well as with UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin. The end result must be a regulation that conforms to European law, which also applies to Great Britain.

"Commissions for agents and transfer fees are increasingly irritating society and alienate it from our beloved sport. Football as a whole is called upon to finally provide satisfactory answers to these problems."

Increasing support for caps

Keller's words echo those of Christian Seifert, his equivalent at the DFL (German Football League), which runs the Bundesliga and the Bundesliga 2. Seifert has also called for a reduction in transfer and agent fees — paid to intermediaries when players renew contracts or transfer between clubs — as part of a restructuring of the sport in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Bayern Munich's Karl Heinz Rummenigge also recently told Sky that salary caps were an "interesting discussion."

Very interesting, and he is right, something has to be done.

There will likely have to be a middle ground I guess, if something is done.

The obscene amount of money agents make from clubs has to be one thing capped for starters. It's absolutely disgusting the money they make.

German fans defninately want to bring football back 'closer to the people' as he states. It's a big thing for them. Some other leagues may not, who knows. That's the problem, is that it'll be hard to impliment such stringent rules Euro wide.

Through next week too, it's Englische Woche in Germany, so there's midweek league games, and they have staggered kickoffs as well, on both Tuesday and Wednesday, with early evening and late evening games.

A lot of good Bundesliga action this week. Some of the more interesting ones:

Tomorrow:
  • Gladbach - Leverkusen (14:30)
  • Dortmud - Wolfsburg (14:30)
  • Bayern - Frankfurt (17:30)

Tuesday:
  • Bayern - Dortmund (17:30)
  • Leverkusen - Wolfsburg (19:30)

Could be a crucial week in the title race.

They're putting cardboard cut outs in the stands this weekend apparently.

Bayern should play one at the back instead of Jerome Boateng. Nobody would notice the difference.

Nazarov scored for Aue and ran over to the bench and jumped on somebody. Whether you believe celebrations should be allowed is neither here nor there, clubs have been informed of what the rules are and players ignoring them is not a good look. To get the season finished they need to behave.

Not irrelevant to the support or the league or the city, or indeed to football in general right now of all times. Something really snobby about calling them that, no one is forcing you to watch!

While what you say is true, sometimes people get carried away its a game based on passion even in times such as these. You can't just switch it on and off.

I agree with your point, but players cannot be running to the halfway line to jump on staff.

I would agree with that, I didn't actually see it. But then I am thinking of our guys when they win the title, it will be difficult to keep control in that situation.
