The Torygraph
« on: April 6, 2013, 02:12:17 pm »
Hi just want to some clarification.

Where do we stand on this publication in light of them recently employing McKenzie?

I mean I know where I stand - whether they sacked him or not is irrelevant to me - I shall be boycotting them from now on.

It just that I have been having a discussion with CQ on the climate change thread because he has just quoted an article from the Torygraph and I ask him if he could refrain from doing so in light of this weeks events.

I know some would say it detracts from the boycotting of the Sun but I dont agree.

The official policy is that the Sun and NOTW were pariahs.  Personally I would be loathe to impose a blanket ban, even though the Torygraph is just the Mail for posher older readers. Feel free to point out how scummy the paper is when the opportunity arises though.

yes I know that - but that policy was in place before the events of this week.

The trouble is there would only probably be a couple of newspapers left if you ban those with some association to Mackenzie. It would mean for example not allowing even Liverpool Echo articles due to him being a director there for a few years in the 90's.

he was a director of the Mirror Group - bit misleading to say he was a director at the Liverpool Echo

There are records that suggest that he was, but there is no indication that he was ever active.

The only thing I can find, after a search, is he was a director of the Mirror Group

The original source where I found it now seems needs a payment to view. I did a Company House check though to confirm it, and have an official document of his resignation in 1998 on another computer that I can pm you if you would like to see.

Telegraph is only a supposedly more 'intellectual' paper than the likes of the mail etc.  Wouldn't wipe my ass with it.  Should be banned as a source as it's 100% Tory.  It's worse in some ways than the Sxn as it is actually taken seriously generally, wheras most recognise the Sxn as beano lite.

SPs post is correct. (Personally I'd ban the Daily Mail too for its hatred of everything non Tory).

Just to clarify : RAWK bans any use of the Sun's material and of course the now defunct NotW. We have other bars on certain newspapers in the transfer boards but no other blanket boycott on other papers. With the advent if more and more pay walls I imagine the links will decrease in time anyway. But we in line with the campaigns, boycott the paper not the man even though personally I'd hunt him down wherever he went and would choose to ignore companies he worked for.

Other than News Line, The Socialist and Razzle, we should ban everything.
