Just booked Ryanair from Manchester to Stuttgart on the 17th and back on the 19th for me and my lad who's 15 for £100. Cheap hotel in Stuttgart fro £40 on the 17th.

Train from Stuttgart to Karlsruhe and on to Basel on day of game and gonna wing it after the game and head for the train station, fucked if i'm paying over 2 ton for a few hours kip.

Anyone got a German rail card I can make use of?  ;)

You all going regardless, or just accepting the risk of losing the money on these flights/trains? (Or are they refundable?)

You could probably bet on Dortmund to qualify and guarantee the money back if we don't get through

Booked flights and hotel - 6 miles out of the city centre. Two nights in the city centre range from £500 to over a grand.

I'm going anyway - I love Basel and know it pretty well.

What hotel you staying in mate?! Prices are mad, but wouldn't mind one and your idea seems good! Never been to Basel so good to know someone here has! Aha

MIne's a guesthouse 6 miles east on the train. I'll have to get a cab back if we win but that will probably be in the early hours of the morning.

https://www.booking.com/hotel/de/gasthaus-schwarzer-adler.en-gb.html?aid=303948;label=basel-bqshEphm2xBauGlBuMZ5WQS65790075141%3Apl%3Ata%3Ap1105%3Ap2%3Aac%3Aap1t1%3Aneg%3Afi%3Atikwd-2033290311%3Alp9045999%3Ali%3Adec%3Adm;sid=b01f3551b6dda4295d45e74e0e93cd68;dcid=5;label=postbooking_confpage

Click on the map and it'll show the hotels and guesthouses that still have availability. I'm paying 90CHF for two nights and might have a spare bed. Even if I have to pay £100 for a cab after the game it'll be cheaper than a town centre hotel. It's actually on the German side of the border.

Basel is tiny but very pleasant. Loads of good architecture - it's where Herzog de Meuron are based and the St Jakob arena is one of their early buildings. There's a really nice square with restaurants and bars all round.
