How’s Brewdog getting on?

Meh

Did alright. Yard dog team vs yard dog team, lots of long balls, very scrappy. Had maybe one or two half chances which he didn’t do much with, worked pretty hard.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

How’s Brewdog getting on?

He got through a lot of hard work today, the trouble is Swansea are not good every time they got into promising positions they gave the ball away, he was also clattered into a lot but he stood up to it. His moment of real quality was the header which went from one side of the pitch to the other, perfectly placed showed great technique.

Took some knocks, kept on going.  Really difficult game for him, need to watch Swansea's next home game where they'll probably have more chances.  They look a much tidier team than Cardiff.

Yeah I know all that and I don't think I meant it's "now or never" to show he's world class but to make the transition from youth to senior level.  Very few do and even fewer do who have lost 2yrs growth and development.

I've never played football manager instead I'm basing my opinions on working at youth level football for many years.

As somebody above said, this is basically his senior debut.

Well, if you've worked at youth level football for many years then you must be well aware that youth player development is never linear.  There are always peaks and valleys as young players learn and improve and you really never know how good a player will ultimately be until they get there.  Brewster will have a nice career as a professional footballer.  Whether that happens at Liverpool or the top level is yet to be determined but if he is thought of as highly as he is by Klopp that's a good sign that he'll be ok.

I also think one of the great things about Klopp is the patience that he has with players and the long term view he always takes.  That's so rare amongst managers these days and definitely gives our young players like Brewster the best chance of succeeding at the club.

He had a bit of a shocker, seemed very timid and could not impose himself on the game at all.

His first game back after an injury, few players are able to instantly shine in that instance including more experienced ones.

Did you watch the same match as me?!

Timid he wasn’t. Put his body in to win a few free kicks

Booked in first 20 for a foul

As a striker he had nothing created

He worked hard. To say he had a shocker does him a massive disservice

Not bad for what was effectively his senior debut.

He’s no where near match sharp though.

He’ll have to create his own chances if he wants to score goals in that side...  he dealt with the physicality well.  He’s a strong lad, and he’ll get stronger as he loses his puppy fat.

Was interesting to hear that Swansea have the 3rd highest expected goals in the championship, it explains why they went after Brewster because their goals scored is well down on some of the higher scoring teams. They created fuck all today but we’ve all seen derby matches where the performances aren’t representative of the actual quality of the side so hopefully it is just that. Brewster did as well as he could considering he had no service and he is probably some way off being match fit, certainly wasn’t afraid to put himself about.

Potentially look towards Tammy Abraham as a template. Give him a season and a half in The Championship and if he really performs there and scores a lot of goals bring him into the first team.

Good lad!

He's going to kick on from this. Klopp didn't make a fuss of him last season, giving him a place in the European Cup squad for nothing.

Well done Rhian, the first of many.

Nice finish. Great to see. Hopefully he pushes on and is ready to make a bigger squad impact next year.

Whilst there are obviously many intangibles that can be judged, a bit like goal keeping, its an output business and he'll be measured against goals and assists and to that point, in the Championship, he needs to be aiming for 10 goals during this loan period. 1 down... hopefully plenty more to come!
If you can't walk in a straight line.... you shouldn't be playing for Liverpool. End of

Good movement, points to where he wants it, tidy finish on the half turn into the far corner with his weaker foot. Keep it going lad! Hopefully he scores and scores and his star rises over, say, the next 18 months, before we bring him back as a real option to give us a selection headache.
