Champions league draw and fixtures

The draw for the 2017-18 Champions League group stage takes place at 18:00 CEST (17:00 BST / 12:00 ET) on Thursday, August 24. Unlike the draws for previous rounds, which were held in Nyon, Switzerland, the group stage draw will be held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco
'The evidence shows conclusively that Liverpool fans neither caused nor contributed to the deaths of 96 men, women and children.'

Champions League Group Stage Draw

Pot 1: Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Benfica, Monaco, Spartak Moscow, Shakhtar Donetsk

Pot 2: Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla, Man City, Porto, Man United

Pot 3: Napoli, Tottenham, Basel, Olympiakos, Anderlecht, Liverpool, Roma, Beşiktaş

Pot 4: Celtic, CSKA Moscow, APOEL, Feyenoord, Sporting CP, Maribor, Qarabag, RB Leipzig

The Reds cannot, however, be drawn against sides from the Premier League, ruling out Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Tottenham.

Their first group stage clash will be held on September 12/13, away to their opponent from Pot 2.

And the rest of the fixtures are spread over September, October, November and December.

No it is not. After the draw, each team is randomly assigned a number between 1 and 4. You are right that it is 2 v 3 and 4 v 1 on first match. But these numbers are randomly assigned afterwards and is not linked to pot number. Each group is random.

Also, considerations have to be given to clashes within a City. For example Chelsea and Tottenham can not be at home in same matchday and nor can the 2 Manchester clubs.

Cheers for that, was gutted coz pot 2 looked like the boss aways and 2 of ours couldn't do matchday 1. UEFA love to make these draws confusing
