I don't mind my Dad taking the kids when he comes to see them as its a treat and I'm getting them KFC as a treat Friday, but eating them is a rare thing with mine. The parents who routinely shovel the shite down the kids though :no

Like you say, you can easily get better burgers, Aldi sell Aberdeen Angus burgers for a couple of quid for 4, buns are under a quid and a local butchers will do all kinds of healthy tasty burgers for about 75p each. I'd rather feed them to my kids and if they want some shite, Home Bargains sell an SFC fried chicken bucket for £2

I make my own burgers which quite easy to do, i normally use mince beef & add in a few herbs & spices, mind you i got some burgers from Aldi last week  think theyre the angus ones, but now & again i like a takeaway burger my local kebab shops do better burgers at better value, sometimes i'll go to burger king when i'm out for the day.

I was working in town last year and a workmate went and bought a Burger & chips from McNasty's and I went to the Lobster Pot a few doors away and got myself a burger and chips as well and the difference between the two, mine was like twice the size with loads of salad and sauce, load of chippy chips as well,I think the prices are similar, just couldn't understand it.

I make my own sometimes too or get them from the butchers.

There's so many better burgers than McNastys but that's how marketing and branding works.

They've opened near us now so the queues on the byepass were beyond ridiculous at rush hour.

At least the woods are free from dickheads now [emoji23]

It's quite fun making them too, i tend to add onion, peppers then herbs & spices then blast it off in the food processor[until the meat is sticky], then put it back in the fridge for a few hours or overnight before cooking it. :lickin

That's what's good about making your own anything,  you can add whatever you want.  I do lamb burgers too, usually make a batch of them and freeze them.

I make my own chicken nuggets and southern fried chicken too.

What do you use for the coating on your southern fried chicken?

What do you use for the coating on your southern fried chicken?
Flour, garlic, turmeric, paprika, salt and pepper is pretty much it.  No measurements I just keep tasting till I think it's right.

I always double coat so beaten egg then the coating then egg then coating.

Reading this has made me hungry. ;D

I need to cook more.  I'm a good cook but don't have much passion for it.  Most of my cook books I flip through, nothing really grabs my attention.

I have cook books but dont often use them other than to get hints and tips from and mine tend to be for specifics.

I have one for fish/seafood, one for pasta, one for puds, one for soups etc but to be honest I usually use the bbc good food recipes online.

Rather than finding a recipe to tempt you try finding one once you fancy something.  So if you know you're having chicken find a recipe that uses it in a way you've not had or cooked it before.

The other day I had some carrots and bananas that needed using but I'm bored of making carrot cake and banana loaf.

I had a look at carrot and coriander soup but didnt have all the ingredients but on the same page was a carrot and ginger soup which I had some but not all those ingredients.  We've got a mix of both now all portioned up and in the freezer.

The bananas I used to make a banoffee pudding [emoji2957] sugar overload!!!

Never thought of double coating. We add mustard powder, onion powder, bit of oregano and thyme to the above, not used turmeric though. I agree, it's a bit of trial and error with the quantities.

You can add pretty much anything really.  Cayenne pepper or even some chilli works well too and I occasionally crumble chicken oxo cube in and sage.  Depends if im wanting more chicken flavour or more southern flavour.

Next time you're food shopping have a look at the ingredients on ready made fried chicken or the dried flavouring that gives you a decent idea of the flavours.

Funny enough, my real moan was about doing the food shop today. Idiots everywhere. Seriously, I'm going to knock someone out in Asda before this pandemic is out.

It's done me in tonight too.  All I wanted was some beers for Paul and as Morrisons have a separate queue for a "quick" shop I thought I'd be fine.

In the queue for the tills and the self serve had 1 person using them out of 10 tills all with screens so I asked was I allowed through she looked at me like I'd 2 heads.

Took me over 20mins..... so much for "quick".

As for the savoury pie I've had the last piece for my lunch today sorry.

Jill I think I might one day [emoji6]

What is it with Yorkshire scalls looking to smack people with golf clubs?  :o

Last time I was in Scarborough the locals were out to get each other with golf clubs too.

A pitched battle right outside our B&B where everything in a builders skip was used as weapons. Then shortly afterwards one group returned looking for the others, armed with a better set of golf clubs than Lee Trevino.

Mind you, it's only a short drive. It's certainly rough in those parts. A bit of a hole really. I thought I'd better flag that up.
