Great stuff again Greg. Incidently, zoomed out, I'd swear the very first graph is for 'Total Ass Hit (Directly and Indirectly)'  ;D   an observation:

Babel and Benayoun have 51% and 49% of minutes respectively. If we combine them theoretically to represent the output of our left attacking position, we get 26 'assists' (18 for Babel, 8 for Benayoun) and 19 goals (9 for Babel, 10 for Benayoun). I think that that is quite interesting. It shows how effective Babel is at feeding Gerrard and Torres and how good Benayoun is at scoring goals (10 goals with 50% of minutes might be extrapolated to being a 20 goal wide player, no? That said, Benayoun also plays inside sometimes.
Singing Munich songs is also disrespectful to those who died at Hillsborough. Is that so difficult to understand?

Great stats....

Shame more people don't view them before posting their opinions on players form/seasons.

On the assists, do you always just count the last two passes, or look at the "key" pass in the move/or key piece of play?

Also, its good to see the difference in terms of different parts of the season. IE Torres now, to Torres at the start. Or Babel now to Babel at the start.

Thanks anyway, keep up the good work.

Normally the last 2 passes are the key ones. I would love to give Alonso an assist for a raking pass in the build up, but normally a lot happens after that to award him it.

I did give one to Gerrard for his 1-2 with Lucas against Blackburn. And I think I have given assists for Torres if he's gone on a mazy run and scored, but made the goal himself. There's no set way I do it, just depends how I feel at the time I think.

Glad you like it anyway la.

Only 1 game left this season - 58 games played so far. Will do the final ones next week sometime probably.

None of these stats include Plessis, Insua, El Zhar, Hobbs or anyone else who has only played the odd game.

Just wondering:

1. Shall I do these again this season?
2. Does anyone actually read them?
3. Can anyone suggest any improvements?
4. Is anyone else doing them?

1. If you like, it may not be representative until 6 (league and CL) games into the season though.
2. I looked at them, and commented.
3. Colour code attack midfield and defence. That will help compare like with like. Add a few lines of comment on each graph, highlighting high and low acheivers.
Try to avoid subjective measures (e.g. goal 'faults'). If possible, use one data sheet, then point a variety of pivot tables at it, that allows the data to be much more easilily manipulated. It might be worth putting the data set up in a common format and see what others can come up with.
4. I did one on Liverpool's central midfield formations last season, the results and goals conceded in the league, CL and both, for a variety of partnerships.

Yeah I hope you do it again, I use it to gauge performances on it a very basic manner, but I do find it interesting and checked it over the season last time round.

I like the "goal faults", and the honesty of how you judge "faults" and "assists" by the last two passes. Maybe a "Key Pass" column if it is a workable idea?

Does anyone know if Setanta/Sky put the stats of players on their websites that they have started showing at HT and FT? All the Ball touches, passes made/completed, Tackles made etc etc?
