Sad to hear he has had to retire on medical advice. Some great memories and unfortunate it's come to an end for him. Had a great start to the season at Preston too.

Their form dipped dramatically without him.

The commentary on .tv was awesome for that game and I fondly remember it. Also the game against Olympiakos in the CL.

Real Shame for the lad. I also will not forget that Arsenal game . Seems to be on .tv a fair bit so maybe a future in the media if he doesnt go into coaching.

His goals against Olympiakos and Arsenal were, respectively, crucial and fantastic. Stepped up when we needed him and did us proud.

He left his own engraving on the magical 04/05 season. The strike against Arsenal and his performance vs Olympiakos obviously spring to mind.

Good luck for the future Neil.

Obviously the Arsenal and Olympiakos goals are the stand outs but he also scored in a League Cup Semi Final, which helped us go on to beat the Mancs in the final. Plus he scored in a couple of rounds in the 2005 League Cup run too I think.
