BBC are on the ball: ;D

Kuyt has no socks. Not literally, I just mean that he really has worked them off.

Indeed he has and well deserved goal.

88- Small breakaway on the left Kuyt plays it just into the box to Spearing but Repka cleans it up.

N'gog runs into Repka a minute later and tries to claim for a penalty. Not for me..

Ngog should have won a penalty then, ref said no.

90- Meireles burst down the right, plays it to Kuyt ahead of him who plays it across to Cole. Cole dribbles it into the box is about to shoot and probably score but N'gog hits a dire shot. Stupid and Greedy by N'gog.

Cole had a perfect chance to score but Ngog took the shot from him and missed. Cole is furious at him and rightly so.

Shame...lack of match fitness. Cole nearly has a 1 on 1 with the gk, but the defenders catches Cole up!

End of match 1- 0 ! Poor match but a win nonetheless!

Maybe Cole wouldn't have scored the chance eariler, because he just missed a good chance on the break. Played in one on one by Spearing but his fitness let him down.

You assume, wrongly in my opinion, the he stops running when get does down that tunnel. I bet he just keeps going until he hits Melwood, then runs laps round the place until training starts tomorrow!

King Kenneth Dalglish wins his first home European game as a Liverpool manager 1-0 courtesy of a 82nd minute Dirk Kuyt header.

Thanks for reading!

I've seen better European nights @ Anfield. Win is a win and all that, delighted for Kuyt. Deserved to score there.

We're going through and hopefully Carroll will be match fit and have gelled in with the squad one the next round comes around. Scruffy as fuck, unconvincing but we won. Move and enjoy it.

Poor match in fairness but we pull it out of the bag at the last again which we wouldn't have done under Roy Hodgson & King Kenny remains unbeaten in Europe as a manager.

Generally a very poor and scrappy match with a lot of yellow cards (thanks to a card happy referee!). Liverpool really didn't grab a hold of the game at any point during the 90 minutes, and missed Gerrard and Suarez (really gutted that Suarez is cup tied). I am really hoping that Gerrard plays at WH and we manage to get the free flowing football back.

Full time summary

Liverpool 1 - 0 Sparta

Dirk Kuyt the hero once again. How many times has he popped up with a vital goal? He's counts for 2 players in the last 15 minutes of a game, such is his fitness levels.

Appart from that, this was a pretty poor night for Liverpool with potential 4 new additions to the treatment table the biggest concern. The squad is looking pretty weak for the weekend now although if we can get Gerrard, Suarez and Carroll onto the pitch that's a different story.

However a win is a win. We're in the hat for the draw tomorrow so that's the main thing. Thanks again Kuyt. Another two fingers to his doubters!

Great win in the end, who else but Dirk Kuyt? He always scores important goals for us, especially in Europe too. The match wasn't the best in terms of entertainment but in the end who gives a fuck, we're through and that's all that matters!
