Margret Thatcher was the woman responsible for some of the darkest days Liverpool has ever seen. If there is a state funeral in her honor, I will personaly organise a series of street parties, to celebrate not her life, but her political demise and ultimate death. And as bitter as that sounds, I've met countless people who feel the same way.

She ruined people, families, communities and cities.

The reason for this is the same reason that both Blair and Brown once ensconced in Number 10 invited Thatcher over to their gaff. They wanted to reflect in her Tory middle England electoral glory. Having Maggie over for tea meant they weren't looney lefties and would pander to the huge middle England vote they were desperate to cultivate. Hence Brown agreeing to the state funeral.

Would he have given one to Manny Shinwell? Or Dennis Skinner. Or Robin Cook? John Smith? Would he fuck. And the reason is votes. The raw pursuit of votes. End of.

One of my main memories of her was when the Commonwealth Conference was asking for sanctions against South Africa in the battle to destroy apartheid.

Thatcher's state funeral could see the biggest riot this country has had since the Poll Tax rally in 1990. Seriously. There are millions of people out there who would not only object massively to a parade like that, they'll also love the chance to dance on her grave. This one's heading for a good old-fashioned British punch-up - which would be the most fitting way to see Thatcher off into the next world.

here though, Thatcher caused the biggest division of opinion you could ever see in the general populace, a clear example of one man's meat is another man's poison...the results of the direct effects of her policies depended very much on where you were and what line of work you were doing and varied enormously from success to hardship

Industrial cities like Liverpool, definitely the latter, though there was a reason behind what she did and were arguments suggesting that some things in the long run were necessary, but it was certainly true that the main problem was that there wasnt enough effort made to alleviate the severe short and even long term impacts on the areas that were going to be affected
