That Sheffield Wednesday game was I think a week after Wimbledon had beat us at anfield so the pressure was on as we were quite low in the table. It pissed down all game and. Hutchison scored with a lucky shot he volleyed into the ground and ballooned over the keepers.  I remember piechnik played and bizarrely thinking after the game that he was a good player.

Two funny memories from that Portsmouth match. Firstly, we'd been scoring goals by the bucketful, and their fans were singing 0 - 0 just as Beardsley scored! The response from the Kop ws predictable. The other was early in the 2nd half when a Kopite threw a toy ball onto the pitch and Alan Knight, Pompey keeper, picked it up and placed it to take a goal kick. The look on his face when the Kop cheered and he realised what had happened was priceless!

I'm ashamed to say I made 'virtual' money on us losing to Blackpool. Do a betting thing with mates from work where we all choose results and we go with the consenus decision. I picked Blackpool at 9-1 but no-one else called it (they weren't watching us week in week out at that stage.

I half expected a comeback after Soto scored of the type we used to pull off under Souness (Oldham was one I can think of) but we couldn't even do that.

today i remember just falling apart at the bridge two years ago despite nearly scoring twice in injury time

losing to arsenal the season they went unbeaten. we had battered them all game should have been 3 up at half time. they scored a fluke of an own goal to level it up. michael owen also got a very bad injury.

the chelsea 1-1 game was pretty poor. sunderland away we won 1-0 i remember rob jones saw one of our lads on the receiving end of a bad tackle and he just absolutely snapped and got sent off.

the wimbledon game i think they were top. its showed sometimes on espn. have seen rush's second a million times, keeper came out to clear and missed and just clattered his own team mate leaving rush to role it into an empty net

So Rob Jones made his debut today in 1991 but it's not in the list - must have been United away when he kept Giggs quiet. Amaziung story that was. Signed from Crewe in the old 4th Division, Liverpool debut in October and his full England debut by February. Bollocks to Phil Jones, that's what you call a meteroic rise!

I was at that Chelsea game. We played pretty poorly and equalised through a quickly taken free kick from Redknapp - that was the day that Babb smashed his bollocks on the post! Was it Casiaraghi who scored for them? I remember they had him, Zola, Laudrup and others playing and that was about the first time I really took them seriously as a top side - I know they'd done well the previous couple of years but they normally crumbled at Anfield. They finished 3rd that year but pushed United and Arsenal most of the way.

That Sunderland Cup game should be famous for the shocking kit combo we had on for some reason. I guess our usual away shirt (green and white) had too much white in it so we played in that nasty gold coloured away top which was normally worn with black shorts, but again these clashed with Sunderland. We ended up in gold shirts with green shorts. I think that's the game that turned Gok Wan off football.

Wiped it from my memory to be honest. Malouda definitely scored. Not sure if Drogba did or whether he just set up the 2nd (skinned Carra I think and was his usual handful against us). Lampard might have scored the first?

You're quite right, Nick. Well remembered! He scored our goal in a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham in January 2004 then scored against Levski Sofia (home) and Leeds United (away) in February.
