Need composure infront of goal. Zaha running off Phillips. They will get chances second half so we need to take our chances.

Harvey the best player on the pitch, the rest of our lads need to do much better.

Not really that sharp going forward. Very disjointed. We are conceding far too often as well. No real clear cut chances for us. Elliot played well, that’s about it.
I think the same, can't stand him, but if you could have a £1million pound cheque or steve bruces head hollowed out and filled with pound coins which would you have?

Predictable

Exactly…..early days but need to turn this around….can’t be 4 or 4 points behind this early…..and united next weekend won’t be as easy as people think….we are really sceptical to the counter…..

When you've got Zaha up against Phillips and you're sticking with a high line, you're always going to be one pass away from shit going sideways.

We are in control, but need to be sharper when we get our chances. Should have done better for their goal. Our timing when they hit the ball forward has not been good and it cost us.

Frustrating that as we were playing well.

Would like Phillips to keep it simpler and speed it up… dawdles with it.

Fabinho seems pretty off it, just not winning his battles and got cut open for their goal. I know he’s a slow starter but we need him on it.

Elliot is a diamond.

Hard to take that really. We can turn it round though on the first half showing. Need to be more clinical

That was like watching a Roy Evans side. Pretty attacking football and the other team scores with their only chance.

Much better performance but Zaha has Nat on toast with his runs. Keep going and hope we get the rub of the green for once.

Played decent enough but no cutting edge. Gonna be difficult to replace Mane’s output it seems.

Philips in defence was obvious he will get punished.

Hope we can pull it out but unsure to be honest.

Well this is shite. One of these games where we’ll either score early second half and win it or It’ll just be like the first half and they’ll grab a second on the counter.

Phillips shouldn’t be playing for a team aspiring to win the league. He’s been done about 2-3 times now

Ffs…. How many chances do we need!? Dominated them, but not clinical enough in that first half. Nunez please get all these mis-kicks out of your system for the second half  ;D

Harvey has been great though.

Wish we’d just be clinical against teams like Palace for once.

Irritating thing is, Palace looked ordinary until their goal. Now they’re defending for their lives.

We have won the last 10 against them.

Some of the build up is so slow and predictable. Every time we’ve sped it up we’ve cut through. And the. Back to the slow pass pass pass. So frustrating. Phillips is an accident waiting to happen on the counter, so slow. Diaz also a bit off it which is a worry. Elliott easily our best player.

Here's an idea - if you think the half time threads are a 'disgrace', 'embarrassing', 'full of moaning bedwetters' etc, go and do something else for the next 15 minutes. Make a cup of tea, walk the dog, have a quick tug, whatever. This thread is for anyone who just wants to post a quick reaction to what we just watched, it's not worth getting wound up about.

Now, regarding the football, that was the very definition of smash and grab from Palace. We had all the possession and the chances but couldn't take any and got sucker punched. Nat Phillips is a good lad who tries his best but he really isn't good enough unfortunately.

Another huge test coming up in the second half. We don't have a lot of the bench to change things because of the desperate injury situation so it's on the lads already out there to rescue this.
I'd kill for a tug right now.

We’re not gonna do much this season if we keep needing a half time rocket
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Early in the game Nat goes with Zaha and drops off. Then he decides to play offside and they score, then he does it again and Zaha almost scores again.

Not sure Fabinho should be playing if he's not even fit enough for Sunday league. The man can't run and turns in treacle at the minute.

Toothless and leaky - bad combination.

Fab sold himself for the goal.

Harvey looks a player.

Diaz needs to step up.

That was poor and Palace have bossed the half without having the ball. They have allowed us to play the ball around aimlessly and have defended better than we have attacked. It was obvious that they would get a couple of good chances.

Our midfield is not working and we are losing every important battle.

Yes it looks like we are in control but we can’t string together passes and have resorted to aimless crosses. We need a big change at half-time otherwise this will be 2-0.

Yeah unfortunately they targeted Nat and it worked that time.

Really frustrating as we have this game so many times before but we've had so many good chances. Kind of feels one of those days right now, but onwards and upwards. We lost our heads a little after the goal - can feel the tension inside the ground already.

Incredible how we can't score from any of those chances but Zaha finds pretty much the only angle possible to slot it in.

Difference was that Zaha had all day to assess the situation and pick the corner.  Our two best chances with Nunez and Salah were both snatched because they had so little time.

We're incredibly open at the back at the best of times, but playing Nat there makes us even more easy to get at with balls over the top.
Sit down, shock is better taken with bent knees.

Mentioned in the comms but there's been some pretty blind reffing in & around their box. Hate complaining about the ref when we could have just taken our own chances, but there were 2 handballs & 2 clear pushes in the back & not even a VAR check.....?

Perhaps the most frustrating half of football I can remember, it started with Millie’s golden opportunity in the opening minutes and just got more and more so.

We look sharper than last week, but we are still WAY short of our best. Darwin is trying too hard.

Feel for Phillips, thought he had a blinder up until the goal but a direct pass to a player with pace and he was undone.  He'll be a good player at the right club but not one that plays a high line.  Frustrating all around really.  Robertson looks way off it.

Elliott best player on the park.
