We haven’t lost a PL game in 2022 yet people are going over the top.
you sound surprised
However if something serious happens to them I will eat my own cock.

Van Dijk appeared to overcompensate for last week by not getting close enough?
Great finish though.

Midfield is uninspiring.
The same pass it to Trent & see what he does.
Robertson is annoyingly predictable close him down & he passes it back everything.
Elliott is the spark.

That doesn’t stop the positions he’s taking up though, very wide and almost too deep… needs to be occupying their defenders more.

Partly though because Robbo isn't doing much to help him

Agree, his passing has been really poor.

Well this is shite. One of these games where we’ll either score early second half and win it or It’ll just be like the first half and they’ll grab a second on the counter.

Phillips shouldn’t be playing for a team aspiring to win the league. He’s been done about 2-3 times now

And who should be playing in his place ? They are all injured mate. So who do you suggest ?

They would at least have been able to turn and try to get back at him in less than the 5 minutes it took Nat.

Maybe, VVD caught up with him insanely well I thought but for some reason wasn’t arsed to make an attempt to block

Even if Gomez/Matip was there they wouldn’t have stood a chance to catch Zaha on their back foot

I thought (and Carragher just said it) that VVD was more at fault for the goal than Nat. I don't get why he slowed down when Zaha was always going to take that shot.  Superb finish. Sucker punch against the run of play. But we've seen this dozens of times before.

Philips is a long way from being good enough and shouldn’t be at the club still. His passing and pace and decision making are not good. Fabinho will get a lot of blame but he’s so isolated, we’re crazy open in midfield. Which is no surprise when you have a 36-37 year old who loves to pull wide playing alongside him and a kid who’s looked out most dangerous attacking player by far. We desperately need legs in midfield and there simply aren’t any at the club.
You’re attacking our fifth choice centre half for being…… the level of a fifth choice centre half?

Can’t leave Phillps out there he’s getting murdered .. Get Keita on and drop Fab into defence

Get Keita and Hendo on quickly at least and then Carvalho.

Midfield just looks broken without Thiago and it's completely stale and slow.

Nunez and Mo score on another day but we're always wide open at the back now.

Another case of doing a lot without actually doing anything effective. The start, yes, was a significant improvement on Fulham, but it's completely lacking the killer touch. Palace just stick to their very predictable gameplay, have one shot and it's in the net of course. I'd love to be an optimist but I honestly can't see us getting anything from this unless we make a significant tactical and personnel switch, because Palace will be able to mop up what we're currently doing all night long.

How is it possible to have 14 shots off target?

A lot of them were speculative,  others just rushed.

Henderson shouldn’t be anywhere near this game as an 8. He could come on for Fab though.

He is getting literally no support from the ref, being consistently kicked and pulled. Two players took him out at one point and play on.

Thought Tierney was actually decent. A lot of Palace falling over wasn’t whistled, and we got decent chances from them.

But it seems the constant recently has been Fabinho. Think he needs a benching to get him motivated again. He was poor for the goal, very negative, and has been playing poorly for a while now. Looks very much a player taking his position for granted.

Our midfield is made of glass…

Thiago and Keita constantly injured

Henderson off the pace

Milner 36 Years old

Ox - Is he always injured

Fabinho - Having his worst period for the club…

Elliot and Carvalho are only young

Curtis Jones now having injury problems

Van Dijk played him onside then couldn't be arsed to close down.

No - Phillips played him onside - Zaha was goal side of VVD, who stepped up perfectly, and Nat stepped back at just the wrong time to play him onside  -  Zaha is rapid, and Virgil gave him a 5+ yard headstart because f that, and still came within a yard of blocking the shot

He's not is he.  As has been said, countless times, Gomez is recovering from a knock.  If Gomez had a full week training, no issues, it's obvious he'd be playing tonight.

Created some great chances but we've been so wasteful in front of goal. Darwin and Mo could have 2 each. Such a poor goal to concede, Fab looking a yard off the pace.

Lots of time to turn this around but can't keep letting opponents off the hook.

Correct. Too many people blame Phillips but there’s basically nothing he could have done for their goal. The missed tackle by Fabinho was the problem and he has looked way off the pace.

I’m worried that we’ll see the same pattern in the 2nd half unless we start to win the individual battles.
