Wonder what his squad number would be.  3, 8, 10 and 13 all available under 23.  Would like to see him in 23 perhaps.

Another reminder that we are currently very well run indeed. Massive shot in the arm after Saturday, just what was required on and off the pitch.

Indeed! What a fantastically run club we are at the moment, top to bottom

Why would you feel for Henderson?  ??? He’s the club captain, I doubt he’s too upset at us signing excellent players.
If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

Loving how ruthless we are getting the players Klopp wants.

We also have the patience to wait for our targets and not deviate for a 2nd or 3rd choice, seems we have wanted this guy for a year now.

Klopp/recruitment are so in sync and it shows with how our new players fit in seamlessly.

Don't know anything about him in all honesty, but its business done quickly, and there must be something in that, because that's exactly what we need.

The Mancs are already gloating over this Fred bloke, who they have yet to even sign, about how he's in the world cup team, and Fabinho isn't. Honest to fuck, they've officially turned into Spurs, with a hint of Everton.

Soooooo....the possibility of a completely new midfield 3 for the first game next season? Fabinho as DM, Keita box-to-box, Fekir playing the Coutinho role with a front 3 of Bobby, Mane and Salah? Would that be too much change all at once?

100% penalty record too I believe.

This signing confirms two things I have long believed to be true:-
1. Ignore the media, they have no fucking clue who we are targeting anymore. It's a tight ship we are running.
2. Sorting out the spine, and particularly midfield, is the #1 priority now. This is huge!

I've been wanting this singing so bad. I actually name dropped him all the time but figured he was destined for United for some reason and so was suggesting someone in his mould. To actually get the #1 target for DM is outrageous. He is everything we need - very much the Sven Bender to shield the defence and protect attacks that we have been missing. He's a beast in the air too. Brilliant.

Keita, Coutinho & Jorginho would be technically the best midfield in the world :D

I love Jorginho, but suspect he is too small to be an option for Klopp as a #6. Suspect if there was interest in him from Klopp, it would be more for the #8 role than #6. Saul, Fabinho, Weigl - those are my favourite three to get picked up for that deepest #6 role if possible.

https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=337699.msg15776284#msg15776284

I'm still hopeful it is someone who looks a lot like Weigl, Fabinho or Saul.

https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=337390.msg15715958#msg15715958
Quote
So back to your question of what "type" we need if not Henderson or Can - we basically need a player in that role who excels tactically. Then you can go in either direction. You have the tactical/technical players like Jorginho, Verratti, Ruben Neves, Weigl and of course, Xabi in there. Or tactical/physical players like Fabinho, Dier, Saul, Matic.

Given our system, and the lack of height we have in the side in general, I suspect #6 in one of the few positions Klopp can add height to the team without losing anything in terms of the pressing side of the game. Therefore we can probably eliminate those quarterback types like Jorginho would would probably end up as #8s in Klopp's system rather than #6's. However, with Keita coming in plus Lallana & Gini already here, we don't need to stock up on more #8 type options. So I suspect whoever we target will look a lot like Weigl, Fabinho, Ruben Neves, Saul even if likely not those specific players. All players who are 6'0 - 6'2, excellent tactically, good-excellent technically and decent-excellent mobility. Read any interview with Ljinders and you will hear him name drop Ruben Neves at least once I'm sure. Then watch him for Wolves running the show in midfield against Leeds last night - I personally would have him high on the list of potential candidates and something of a Mascherano signing perhaps in his strange path to the top of the English game?

https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=329050.msg15992522#msg15992522
Quote
It remains to be seen what the #6 will look like - my guess will still be someone capable of competing in the air and playing quick passes more than a controller (e.g. Dier, Saul, Bender, Fabinho).
