Time for me to admit that I don't understand what Old Nick's cave is about. I'm familiar with the area, which for all of my youth was fenced off I think, but I don't know any background at all guys.

As a kid we'd go to Garston Baths and the chippy next door but never ventured under the Bridge.

Rumour was there were rockers and Teddy Boys there with bicycle chains and flick knives.
Garston baths used to put boards across the pool and hold dances there. There was always murder with the Teddy boys and they were known as "Garston Blood Baths".

The dances were just before my time but that must have been the background, having said that whilst we were running around in our Wranglers, Ben Shermans or Fred Perrys and comos in 1967 the standard dress code Under the Bridge still has more than a whiff of the '50s.

Brother of one of my mates started living with a girl in Dodge in one of the maisonettes. I was shitting it that my bike would get robbed, but apparently the leader of the Hells Angels lived round the corner so no-one would touch any bikes.
