I can’t bring myself to back Farouk D’Alene again but I feel he’s got one of these in him as people who follow this thread know. I would love him to do it.

Good decision I think, be tough going out there in this, he's not a thorough out and out stayer so might as well wait for Aintree.

Nah, I hate it. Wouldn’t be alright with it if he was my horse. It’s not that bad.

Not sure. L’Homme Presse wasn’t stopping. Ahoy Senor would be some horse if he could jump :)

I think Farouk was going to win that but his jumping is just too dodgy. He put in a couple of sketchy leaps. All ifs, bits and maybes though. Sir Gerhard and L’Homme Presse, too horses with stamina to prove have won and weren’t stopping. Nicholls has messed up but will blame others.

Had 25/1 on Bravemansgame since last March, but can understand it, don’t think he’d have won in that.

Hopefully Farouk be ok, but don’t think he’d have won

What’s to say he wouldn’t have won? There’s nothing pointing to the ground being that bad. It’s National hunt racing, he’s not down to run at Ascot in June. It’s soft, no worse than that in my opinion. Don’t think Sir Gerhard or L’Homme Presse would’ve won if it was that bad.

Ah we’ll never know. They’ve all got form on soft I suppose, I do know what you’re saying, but Nicholls ummed and ahhed about coming here since Christmas and clearly thinks Bravemansgame wouldn’t have wanted it like that. He is a bit shy of Cheltenham these days since he hasn’t got the same ammunition he used to have

The ground is fairly awful in fairness. I went back 10 years and so far it's the slowest Ballymore and RSA in that time. I couldn't be bothered going further back but the fact that that's the case shows just how soft this ground actually is.

So disappointing they watered, that wasn't it's usual spectacle for me.

I am not completely sure that Tiger Roll is definitely doomed though; his first National win was on Heavy ground and he has run on Soft three times at Cheltenham, winning twice. Easysland becomes a threat though IMO.

Reckon Shishkin must be injured. Didn’t go a yard and backed off every fence

What an anti climax

Perhaps not injured then, nico still on his back

The clerk has so much to answer for here. This ground is AWFUL. Just don't think Shishkin went a yard on it, proper heavy winter ground which wouldn;t be the case had there been no watering. Worst day watching Cheltenham for me full stop. Shocking.

I know the ground is an easy one to blame now but you've seen bravemansgame pulled out and Nicholls was fuming. Now you've got Shishkin who is a special horse not looking arsed from the first but fine in the ring..

That's racing but I feel like there's some questions for watering the ground when rain albeit little was forecast

The times are telling you it's heavy though. They won't change it or they;d be admitting blame. But only a handful of finisher in the Coral, race times the slowest in years, non runners all over the place which is awful for punters. It;s the ground to blame here and specifically the decision to water.

Yesterday's quick ground provided top class racing, today isn't overly entertaining in my view, it's fine for the winter but this is a spring festival, if the rain had done it by itself then that's life, but given how nice the ground was yesterday we'd have been fine today with just rain I think. So disappointing.

Seems Shishkin is fine, just couldn’t go or jump on the ground.

Have to agree that it’s been spoilt as a spectacle by the watering, but it’s a tough job and decision to make. They’ve made the wrong one and maybe it’ll force a rethink into whether they just accept faster ground if it’s in doubt in future

Can't win really, if they hadn't watered and the rain didn't arrive there would be non-runners everywhere too and people saying they should have watered.

Yeah, i believe a few forecasts had it being dry for the races today, why they went & watered the course, they've been caught between a rock & a hard place.

That’s a real shitter. There’s no sentiment in racing and a win is a win but they’ve put in one of their best and collared one of the best horses of the last 20 years as a result. Leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
