I use the information given on Bet365. Pretty sure that's taken from Racing Post. I'm not an avid horse racing fan though and only bet on it for the craic mostly outside of the festivals.

My tactic in the pub, which has proven successful on numerous occasions, is to back whatever horse is currently on the ticker at the bottom of the TV when I first look at it  :D

I like the layout on the sporting life app. Racing post can be a bit cluttered on mobile and I'm not a fan of the star they use next to horse if it's won on that ground or in that class or over that distance etc

I only bet casually and on larger meetings generally.

A couple of very promising debutants at Newmarket yesterday. Persian Dreamer for Amo in the 2 year old race and Silver Lady for Godolphin look really, really good. To be fair Amo are a coming force in this game, anything they put a saddle on has a great chance. Mammas Girl is a live one for the 1000 Guineas after yesterday.

Think a couple of Amo’s horses have a chance today back at Newmarket at decent prices. California Gem in the first and Indestructible in a weak looking Craven.

Was supposed to be there today but didn’t work out. Often go to this Meeting, usually see a few good ones for the season ahead.

Indestructible surely has a good chance. Some rock solid form behind Chaldean twice. Should get a run at 6/1. Surprised he’s not shorter but there’s a Godolphin and Maktoum horse in there so they attract money.

California Gem a NR unfortunately.

Indestructible worth a shout at 6/1 but Mysterious Night is a strong contender in the Craven. Bit short at 2/1 though.

Early days and you’d want to see some stakes winners in time but some of the Blue Point runners so far look very, very talented.

Don’t often see a Stoute horse win easy like that first time up, might be a good one, first 3 could be ones to follow

Yeah, there could be some decent animals in that race. I think the front 4 will all win races in time. Really enjoy all the novice races. Never know what you’re going to see.

There you go, Duvva. That is some performance because Kevin Stott has a 2 inch longer wingspan than before the start. His form is good and Chaldean should take some stopping on Saturday.

Nice priced winners are always welcome. Well done backers. As you say Gerry, didn’t settle so was surprised to see him finish off so well. Jockey just said he couldn’t pull him up either.

Chaldean helped provide us with a very profitable day out at Newmarket in Oct, and should probably be Guineas fav for me, if he’s trained on he won’t be far away

Have a look at Theoryofeverything on debut yesterday at Doncaster. That is a very, very good one.
How do you reckon this will fair Saturday against Chaldean?

Will have to be out of the ordinary to beat him off the back of one run, Duvva. Especially as Chaldean’s form got a good boost in a Group 3 today.

Did you see Wesley Ward’s 2 year old out of Lady Aurelia? Holy moly. Could be an odds on poke at Ascot.

Would be confident it’d get 5 furlongs easy enough. Last furlong and a half was the best. Looks spectacular.

https://twitter.com/RacingTV/status/1649130133956034563

This on the other hand was spectacular in a different way. Pat Cosgrave can start looking on TUI to see if they have any good package holidays to Gran Canaria for a month.

I bet that was an uncomfortable trip back to the unsaddling enclosure for Cosgrave.

Fair enough with American Rascal Gerry, he does look very good, let’s hope he’s still a decent price when Ascot comes around

28 day ban for Cosgrave. Imagine if refs in football were punished for incompetence.

I think you predicted the exact ban Gerry. I suppose it's standard in this situation. It really was a complete mess from him.

Sure I saw one dished out to a different jockey for 28 days when they did something similar.

Robbed of seeing Chaldean there. Would’ve had to be reasonably good though as the winner put them to sleep easy enough.

Before we enter the (cricket) flat season, there's a lot of decent races at Punchestown, from Tuesday. I like this meeting, and may well pop up for one day. Some quality stuff lads :-)

Interested to see Facile Vega. The supreme form looks good with 4th placed inthepocket going on to win at Aintree so you’d imagine he wins but I do wonder if he will struggle to settle in such a small field. 8/13 is definitely too short for me to back anyway!

I reckon it’s the last time Facile Vega will have a chance of winning a Grade 1 so he’d want to be picking them up today.

Thought he ran well at Cheltenham and was just beat by the better horse on the day. The fifth at Leopardstown felt too bad to be true! Still think he’s capable of winning a few G1’s but I agree he should be winning today, disappointing if not.

Don’t see him winning a grade 1 in open company to be honest, unless they come to pick up soft races in England. His bumper form was crap and over hurdles he just seems a 150 horse and nothing more. I’m just not convinced he’s all that anymore.

You’d like to think FV would be good enough to win today, but I think Gerry’s probably right, I’m not sure he’s going to stand out much in open company. I wouldn’t be keen on taking that price either.
I quite like Merlin Giant in the handicap, and really want to take on Journey With Me, just not sure which of Mullins will win. Might give Classic Getaway a chance

Some friends of friends had Nikini out today, didn't tip as I didn't fancy her, even though they did! Glad I left alone. Funny one, I know Barry O' Neill, but hadn't caught up with him as the P2P local to me was cancelled (insurance or something) this Sunday. Messaged a mate about his in the 6 0'clock;

'I had a pint with him yesterday, he knows nothing about him!'

Came 3rd, 20/1  ;D

Sire Du Berlais 7/1 for Thursday. Never known a horse continue to go off at such big odds given his record. I know he’s old and hasn’t always been the most consistent, but his odds are a joke.

Looking forward to the big race tomorrow, looks a cracker. GC 1-2 and the Ryanair winner. As good as BMG is right handed still think GDC is superior, if Envoi Allen can run to his best he might make it interesting, but again he’s not the most consistent

Really tough race to call - I'm having a wee EW on Hewick, who despite the ground was seemingly enjoying the GC before the error. Doubt he would have won on that ground, but he gets his ground here. Zero rain about. Small bet and enjoy the spectacle! Glad the bullshit around BMG got sorted!

I’m pleased to see him back to winning ways, think he goes chasing next season.

Really looking forward to BMG and GDC going at it, should be a cracker! A dream to share should be going off at odds on IMO so I’ll be having a go, beat a lot of these already with the only real danger coming from Mullins’ Tullyhill who we know little about.

He’ll need to have more respect for fences than he does for hurdles, they should probably go over further with him as well. I dare say he’ll win some grade ones along the way but the Supreme didn’t seem a fluke to me he was beaten fair and square there
