Credit to Callaghan too who, through the quality of his research and postings, single-handedly changed the minds of quite a few RAWKites, making them re-appraise their views on BR.

In fact, his posting were so clever, so persuasive that one might think that:

http://www.liverpoolway.co.uk/classic/featuresfolder/cally2.jpg    is, in fact  http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim//2010/06/10/UTTMsmith_Chang061010_480x360.jpg

Regardless, good job Callaghan!!!   :wellin

One things for sure anyway, with £9m paid to KD in severance and £5m paid to Swansea for compensation, anyone who says we've gone for the cheap option is a moron.
i admireyour optimism but if you honestly believe we will finish even in the top 6 this year , then you my friend (im at pains to say this ) are deluded.

Just watching SSN and I started spontaneously clapping the TV when the showed a picture of our new manager, regardless of his past (that looks very good by the way) this is the kind of support he can expect now he's our manager.
WTF!!! This gave me pins and needles in my eyes! We would look like a bunch of Bulgarian Ice skaters wearing that! Wank!  ;)

I was one of those who wanted Rafa back but, I´m happy enough with BR if it wasn´t to be. That write up by Paul Tomkins was boss, makes for an exciting future, let´s hope he can pull it off.

Have a feeling this fella is going to be a very good choice.
Out of him, AVB & Martinez, I'd take Rodgers everyday of the week.

I think I'm interested rather than excited.
I'm looking forward to seeing football played 'the right way', hopefully it'll be successful too.
Patience has to be the key with this choice, he has my backing.

I actually think rodgers is an underwhelming choice and I fear for the future.  Having said that I originally thought Roy would do well here so hopefully I'll be dead wrong again.

Whatever an individual's stance on the politics of the past 5 years+ at the club, this is undoubtedly an exciting appointment for us.
If the results match the style of his football then we will all be happy.
So much has happened that has divided us including stuff that still hurts now. But this is a genuinely clean slate.
Let's all get behind him and go forward as one.

Talked two weeks ago with friends that I rather take Brendan than Martinez just because the style of play for the last season has been a lot better from Brendan's Swansea. I really didn't try to find articles to support my beliefs but basicly everything posted on the first page is brilliant. Brendan will be succesfull and we will be back at top4 really soon and proply with even minimal investing. I really do believe we have enough quality and intelligence to implement the pressing and passing par a central midfielder and players replacing Kuyt and Maxi if needed.

Welcome Brendan.

Seems like a clued up guy with a great passion for the game.

High hopes that he's going to get us playing some good looking football and make Anfield an intimidating place to come again.

I want teams to come to Anfield and know they're gonna have to play out of their skins to get even a point cos we're gonna be allover them like a rash from kick off.

Never seen him playing I think. But looks like a good player.

Good luck Brendan. It seems like Rafa and Villas-Boas were never really under consideration, which is odd certainly in the second case, but both of those became who they were thanks to a big club taking a punt on someone much like Brendan Rodgers. His Swansea side have definitely been an interesting watch this season. He is a big risk though, I think, in terms of expecting an instant impact. It will be very interesting to see what sort of remit he's got the job under. Is he expected to get into the top 4 again straight away, or will we see a change of emphasis, a stripping out of higher earning older players and a huge emphasis on building from the youth ranks?

Either way, we've got the manager in place now, it will be interesting to see what we do in the transfer market.

My old Dad (he's 69) just said to me on the phone "this all has a bit of a 'deja vous' feeling to it". It reminded him of when they brought Shanks in from Huddersfield back in 59.

That could be an omen! Im willing to give Rodgers 100%.  if he is our man now he has my backing all the way!!

Always thought that Benitez aside, he's the right man for us :)

I really loved watching that Swansea team last season and it's a wonder he made players like Britton, Allen, etc play so well.  I'm relishing to watch him implement this system with Lucas, Henderson, Gerrard, etc :)

Same here. I'm quite happy to see we are going with a young up and coming manager who is tactically sound and has studied the game abroad. This is a great choice. I can't wait to see how BR has us playing come the fall.

I hope that top 4 isn't a priority because I don't think that its realistic no matter who took over. One game at a time and see where we end up next season.

Good luck BR. Gutted Rafa wasn't considered but I feel confident in Rogers that he has the right ideas and actually reminds me of Rafa. Usually when a player is retired early and then goes into management they are pretty keen to prove themselves! Hopefully the return to football discussion not off the field and the glory days!
