Can anyone give a quick comparison to a more established player who I might have seen in terms of what Konate is like?

I get Koulibaly vibes from that Youtube video someone posted on this thread.
"Since its purchase by the sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Manchester City has managed to cheat its way into the top echelon of European football and create a global, immensely profitable football empire, ignoring rules along the way. The club's newfound glory is rooted in lies."

Is there any evidence he could be over his injuries (surgery or whatever) or are we just taking a gamble on potential?

He had surgery in July 2020 to fix a persistent hip flexor issue.

As shown in the Fekir deal, if we're not happy with someones leg or hip in this case we won't be signing them.

He's got a one season window in which to do so. From next season onwards, Liverpool's Kylian Mbappe will be winning the balon d'or every season in recognition of his part in winning the PL/CL double. Or so I'm told.

Well, we definitely needed at least one defender and we got a decent young one by the looks of it. Another face in the middle of the park needed now.

His injury history is massively overstated. The 3 muscle fibre injuries were the same one recurring and he hasn't had am issue since surgery nearly a year go now. Then his ankle injury that kept him out for two months this season which I'm assuming is a sprain. People are basing him being 'injury prone' off two injuries only.

Posting Attack on Titan memes, he's got a cool sense of humor at least.

Ł31m for Fofana and Ł27m for Saliba means this is probably a decent fee for a player of his profile.  Just wish he was playing more consistently before this but it is what it is.

Great as Konate-VVD means we can begin to completely dominate set pieces again and play 20 yards higher up the pitch for fun. Two big factors in our league winning success and two which fell through the floor in the season just gone. I’m excited to see it.

Looks a very good signing as long as the injuries don't reoccur, he seems to have all the tools to be immense. Having said that, a bonus is that the surplus of French centre backs means he may not necessarily have to risk injury on international duty that much.

If I was going to compare him English players it would be Ledley King or Sol Campbell in his pomp. A powerhouse of a defender who has real recovery pace and who is comfortable on the ball.

He is absolutely perfect for our system.

I have to admit that on the limited occasions I watched him I was never overly impressed. Maybe it was just a few bad games. Either way, I trust Klopp and the scouting team to have got this one right.

Welcome, and best of luck for what is hopefully a long and successful career at the greatest club in the world.

Welcome to the lad and good luck! This has been the most un-Liverpool signing in terms of the rumor dragging on from January. But the difference was the release clause, we triggered that and no negotiations were needed. Done. On to the next target.
