Can't see a topic around so thought I'd start one. Obviously lot's of people follow horse racing just for gambling purposes but surely there's a few on here who have a serious interest in it?

Interesting weekend just gone. The fly with another victory, making him one of the best of all time. Hard not to be impressed, but I really think had Harrington decided to send Jezki out today that he would have done the business, similar for Our Conor. Anay Turge is definately a horse to follow this year I think, as is Creepy from the Keighley yard. Champagne Fever was pretty impressive as well, especially for a horse who loves the hill at Cheltenham, could be a decent bet for the Arkle, although I would presume any nice price has gone after yesterday.

I do like a bet on the horses but that's mainly in the big races, and I do like to watch as I do find it very exciting. Champagne Fever is definitely one to keep an eye on, I backed it in the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham and seems like a classy horse. The King George on boxing day is going to be fascinating. Bob's Worth, Silviniaco Conti and Dynaste head the market and I honestly wouldn't want to split them. I'm not sure if Dynaste is quite ready yet though as he's a few years younger. Silviniaco Conti was going great guns when he came down in the Gold Cup which Bob's Worth won very well, a reverse forecast is probably on the cards there!

The bookies weren't impressed with Hurricane Fly, pushing his price out to 5/1 to for the Champion Hurdle. It was his seasonal debut and he is 9 now, so maybe he needs a little bit more time to be fully wound up. Big Buck's was a machine of a horse before his injury, it'll be interesting to see how he is when he comes back. My Tent or Yours and Our Conor are another two obvious ones to keep an eye on this season. The flat is good, but you can't beat the jumps I don't think.

Thought this myself the other day, definitely worth it's own thread away from the betting forum.

SFiasco you won't have to wait until boxing day to see them square off, they're all at Haydock on Saturday for the Betfair, I'm going with Silviniaco for the win but Roi du Mee was very impressive last time out under Cooper probably worth an each way punt as well.

The New One for the champion hurdle surely? I've been impressed with all of his runs so far worthy favourite at moment.

I think so but the Fighting Fifth will give us a good indication of how My Tent Or Yours looks against it. Our Conor is an obvious threat for the Champion Hurdle but I'm not convinced, I think conditions suited the horse at the Festival last year.

Interesting to see Briar Hill today, should be another cracking Supreme at Cheltenham this year if the Liquidator is as good as he looks and we've not got much of a look at West Wizard, although form of that win in March is looking decent enough.

Think the the new one is a great horse, some cracking races to look forward to this year.

i follow it but not the jumps.

about 10+ years ago i knocked it on the head because football was the main betting medium during the winter along with all weather racing.
now i specialise on football soley during the winter and the flat .

gambling on the horses though made me follow it like a proper sport.
Love the worldwide races and specialise on these and all UK pattern races.

This years festival has the potential to be a great one. So many close races in there and topped off by an ultra competitive Gold Cup again I imagine.

I'm hoping that despite both being trained by Nicky Henderson, we get to see Simonsig taking on Sprinter Sacre in the 2 mile Chase races this season. What a spectacle that would be. With different owners lets hope it happens.

Just recovered from 3 days at Cheltenham that is hard work, betting went well and some really good horses to follow, Johns Spirit was excellent, repeated his October performance with another classy run in the Paddy Power, Balthazar King is some animal although we probably have only one more season of him, The Liquidator seems a nice animal, Pipe is on form maybe follow him this weekend, Haydock on Saturday and some top performers there to, i have just heard Nicholls is really happy with Silvinaco Conti , that will be a cracking race with Bobsworth and Dynaste in the field

Made up Cue Card stayed the trip yesterday in the Betfair. My favourite horse and glad it showed its class. Not going to get carried away in terms of it's chances in the Gold Cup but has made this seasons race even more exciting now.

Annie Power very impressive in the way she beat Zarkandar as well, interesting to see which route they go down at the Festival with her.

Yeah Cue Card was the class of the race, it was a matter of stamina and I was proven wrong because I didn't think he would stay. Great ride from Tizzard too, got him into a nice rhythm and jumped very nicely.

Hard to see a gold cup winner labour round like bobs worth did yesterday. Stick my neck out and say cue card would not get the gold cup trip around Cheltenham in a taxi!!!
The time of the race was interesting This year's Betfair Chase 3m 1f won by CC in 6:10
Last year's Betfair Chase 3m won by SC in 6:23 did they run the correct distance?
Long Run looking more like a National horse these days!!!

My Tent Or Yours in the Fighting Fifth. Really, really like this horse and it'll have a big chance as AP is going up to Newcastle for the mount and not riding in the Hennessy. The Hennessy itself looks like a very tricky race to pick a winner from. At Fishers Cross also runs this weekend in the Long Distance hurdle, a horse I quite fancy to win the World Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Interested in seeing if Oscar Rock can build on his nice win at Wetherby recently. Runs in the 1.05 at Newcastle.
Mendip Express in the 12.30 at Bangor looks another decent novice chaser.

I can't let the passing of Pat Eddery go without a mention on RAWK.

During my teen years Pat Eddery was my favorite Jockey. A brilliant rider and 11 times champion Jockey against some very stiff competition in the likes of Willie Carson, Lester Piggott, Walter Swinburn, Ray Cochrane, Steve Cauthen and even a young Frankie Dettori.

During his career he won all 5 Classics for a total of 14 times. Including the Derby 3 times.

He also won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe 3 times on the bounce.

Safe to say, Pat Eddery had a trophy cabinet almost as full as Liverpool FC

Gave me my greatest ever thrill in horse racing when on the great Dancing Brave in the Arc beating the best field of racehorses I've ever seen. "And here comes Dancing Brave,powering down the centre of the track!"

Absolutely, he had that won a long way from home, Mr Mole was hard driven and he just cantered into the lead hard on the bridle. Brilliant to see!

So C4 is to stop broadcasting horse racing after this year. Instead it'll be shown on ITV who've paid £30m for the rights over 4 years starting 2017. I suspect a lot of coverage will be shunted over to ITV4, and I reckon only the crown jewels of racing will be on ITV. I don't mind channel 4's coverage to be honest, a few too many presenters than really necessary but it's still decent. Let's see what team ITV put together

I know this is a year ago but sad to hear about this news. I remember Pat's partnership with the horse Grundy in the Derby and Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Grundy was a great favourite of mine a beautiful chesnut horse with a white tail, and one of the best horses of the flat of all time. RIP.
