That was seriously a disgrace of a European Campaign. After not qualifying from that joke of a group (Ream Madrid aside) and than being knocked out at the first hurdle by Beşiktaş in the Europa.

Basel currently losing 3-0 at home to PAOK after losing 2-1 away last week, they are currently ahead of us in the coefficients, if they are knocked out that would move us to within one place of being in Pot 2 in the group stage draw, only Benfica currently in Pot 2 still have to qualify so we need them to be knocked out, they place Fenerbahce in the next round, thats a tough tie and if they get through that they still have another tie to play to qualify for the group stage.

I think some teams in Pot 1 and Pot 2 would be happy about not having to face us as their Pot 3 team. We'd be a nightmare draw.

It's based on co-efficients from the last five seasons, playing in the final last season will help us out massively and so will playing in the Champions League regularly.

Very atypical Euro performance from Brendan's Celtic here. 4-5-1, low block, defending in the box, counterattacking when they can.

Better looking than Samie.

It'll be some achievement if he gets them through qualifying for a 3rd year in a row, especially now it's been made even more difficult with an extra round.

Spartak Moscow was leading 2-0 at PAOK but conceded 3 goals in 15 mins, 3-2 PAOK lead at HT now. Funny thing is this one was supposed to be defensive battle.

Salzburg 2-0 lead at  HT.

This is an entertaining game. In terms of Europe, this is Celtic's level. If they could opt in to the Europa every year, it would be better for them, challenge-wise. But the CL is obviously where the money is. Although by the sounds of things, their board isn't too keen on spending it.

AEK down to 10 men but looking fairly comfortable for the draw. You’d think Celtic need a couple of goals really.

Wouldn't say "poor" in the sense that they're playing badly - they've absolutely dominated possession. But it's poor in the sense they've been utterly predictable - get the ball down the left into the corner, play it into Ntcham, Ntcham to Brown, Brown to Forrest, back to Brown, back to Ntcham, into the left corner, rinse and repeat.

I'm looking at this Celtic team and it looks exactly the same as last season. The same lot that got 10 bells kicked out of them by a few good football teams.

Definitely meant poor in respects to your point about predictability. Very little invention or creativity on display, just the same recycled moves every time and AEK had few problems defending against it.

I've seen Liverpool turn in that exact performance too many times in the past to describe it as anything other than poor :P

It was definitely verging on the "Liverpool have 65% possession and done nothing with it" level.

But they showed enough in possession to be able to get something from the second leg, but they'll need Dembele back, I think, and get Rogic back up to speed.

Think for the first time really since he's been there there are signs of discontentment from Brendan. After 2 x double trebles, x2 Champions League qualifications & full houses every fortnight, he feels he's earned the right to be backed further getting in the players he wants, & it's not happening for him as of yet. As weird as it is to say, the team might be under some actual pressure now given last nights result over in Athens for the 2nd leg.
