They were on and off a lot and it’s cold and grey. And Essex do always have a good bowling attack. But they raced to about 62/1 off 9 overs. Maybe we just bowled poorly.

Watching it Live on You tube now. Definitely struggling for wickets here.

And now Everton fans are crying about the big six and portraying themselves as a smaller club  in the FA cup story.
 Then they got rich and told us all that there was a power shift and they were a massive club.

Varela is about 5'8. He's not slow but not fast either. Really good positional awareness and tackling.

He's not a bad option at all but I think someone with legs and can cover ground quicker would be optimal.

Should we re-visit Ugarte? Hasn't really worked out at PSG but only 23 and he's lost nothing. Could be a beast for us under Amorim.

IMO yes. Was an odd signing for PSG, didn’t suit their style of play at all but has still looked good for his country (very good actually). If we’re going to playing double pivot, him and Mac could be great.

The shouts that he isn’t great on ball are a bit ott. He’s fine with ball, you just don’t want him as main midfielder progressing it. Why he suits a double pivot and can cover an insane amount of ground.

Lancs batted alright last week, perhaps favourable conditions? I think Essex just seem to be very strong this season in all departments.

They always seem to get skittled by Essex. Saw some negative comments about the coach already. Did he come from Durham? Do we just have a fairly ordinary batting line up these days? Never seem to produce decent batsmen (Bohannon isn’t too bad I guess).
