Fuck me, "Liverpool have won only six of their last 23 home league games"

Football without fans is nothing.

We've won 18 titles, 5 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, but today must be the greatest victory of all.

"And there’s the final whistle! Liverpool surge to a 5-1 victory for their 14th win in their last 15 matches at Anfield. "

Hasn't seemed like it, at least to me. I assumed our away form has been better for some reason.

Fortress Anfield on its way back. Gotta love it.

I think that quote is wrong.

Drew against Chelsea, Newcastle, Spurs last season in last few games.
Maybe it means 14th game we've not lost.

If you look back to the great European nights under Rafa, the 08/09 & 13/14 season or our run last season in the Europa League. Anfield was a fortress and it gave the team that little bit extra.

Ah, fair enough. Got it off the Guardian's MBM. Sounded a bit odd. You'd think they'd do a better job researching stuff.

What it highlights, which I didn't know before, is we've not lost at Anfield since January.
Takes a long while to be considered a fortress. We're on our way though.

Yeah, lost to Stoke in the League Cup and United in the League towards the end of Jan. We've been unbeaten since then,  can think of silly draws against Sunderland and Newcastle, a draw with West Ham in the FA Cup and arguably a fortunate one against Chelsea.  Probably won almost all our other home games since then including 4 in Europe.

Don't despair... what you're really trying to say is, at new Anfield:

Which is about as good as it can get really :)

Bumped this to highlight our record at the minute.

27 league games without defeat at Anfield stretching back to a 0-0 draw against Southampton in May 2017. In that time we've only conceded 11 goals.

Does anybody have the stat on when we last went so many games without an Anfield loss in the league?

Best I could find was 85 matches (all competitions between Jan 1978-Jan 1981), but that's not league only.

40 games undefeated in the league at Anfield going back to 7/5/2017 against Southampton (0-0)

We've won 30 and drew 10 of them.

In that spell we've scored 103 and conceded only 20. We've kept 26 clean sheets.

Keep it going next year reds.

Brilliant stuff. Come a long way since losing a lead to Crystal fucking Palace.

We ended Chelsea’s run in 08/09, think it was something ridiculous like 80 games. We’ll do well to get that far but let’s get to 50 and take it from there!

Yep. The season before that we lost two maybe?

Can think of that mad 3-2 with Swansea and then the 2-1 with Palace. Two League defeats at home in 3 years I think.

If the Red Machine keep going the 64th game (to beat the record set in 78-81) would be against Leicester.

Who beat us in Jan '81 to halt that amazing undefeated home run.

Our home record in the League - an update
« Reply #72 on: September 29, 2020, 02:51:22 pm »
By my reckoning, since losing 2.1 at home v Palace at the end of the 2016/17 season (23rd April 2017 to be precise) this is our home League record:

P 61  W50  D11  L0   F162  A40

That is pretty impressive. Anyone know what the stats were for that 78-81 unbeaten League home run? (I think Birmingham to Leicester if memory serves.)

The 78-81 home run involved 14 draws

Our current involves 11 draws.

Remarkably, we have gone 46 games with only 4 draws in this current run.
