Chilavert going on about Torres should have got a pen..when they showed the replay of him being knocked over just inside the box..

Torres should have been booked for that dive
So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I know Henry was in an offside position and we're supposed to believe he wasn't interfering with play - but the centrebacks were looking at him and it seemed to me that he had pulled them out of position by his presence. Sometimes I wish we could go back to the old rule.

True but the prophetical advantage is with Spain ;)

Both sides have played aggressive attacking football, but I'd have to say France look more convincing at the half.

They've put togther better attacks and passing chains than Spain, even though the Spaniards have had a 59% possession advantage.

I hate the law as it is at the moment.

They all looked to Henry because the twat keeps coming from offside positions and was punished for it.

On reflection it might have been smart play from King Henry to confuse the linesman.

You'll see it again at halftime...still a pen..
I did see it again at half time, and it still wasn't a clear penalty, far from it. It was very much a dive, whichever way you look at it - whether it was a foul or not and I'll stand by my opinion that its wrong to try and con the ref like that.
Anyway, judging from your arguments in the 'Real reason for invading Iraq' thread I'd better back off now, I don't have weeks of time to spare  :P

I would replace Malouda with Trezeguet if I was the French coach.

I really wish players would stop trying to get other players booked or sent off by running up to the ref and signaling at him to show a card. It really fucks me off!

Jesus. That referee has just been conned, badly. Awful, awful decision to give that.
I did. He cheated. Yes there was contact but not enough to push him over, not even close.

Horrible cheating Spanish c*nt?

;D

The challenge, just as last nights, could adequately be described as clumsy. Spain to win on pens bringing Reina on in the last minute of extra time. 8)

So would I.

I think Spain have passed the ball well, but I believe they have a problem in midfield. They seem to have the ball a lot around the center circle. Would be better off with a couple of longer passes IMO.

Thought he got clipped just outside the box myself and went down inside it. Viera should also have been booked for mimicking a yellow card towards the referee.

Agree. Poor defending. Correct decision to give the penalty.

Trezeguet's goalscoring record is superb at every level - it seems strange he should be left out. I think France are badly mismanaged.

I just saw the replay in the box and looked like he went down after just brushing the defender? Maybe he got clipped just before that.

I don't think he tried to con the ref, Thuram kicked the players ankle and not the ball so it is a foul(And would definately be given a free kick anywhere else on the pitch), but it's highly unlikely the ref will even consider giving a penalty if he just stumbles but stays on his feet.  So players go down to make sure the ref have to at least consider giving the decision.
