Just me or is Ebay fucked?

I have put up a few different items for sale. Most with no reserve. Normally you'd see plenty of views and a few bids but lately I notice
no one bids.

People just watch items and prefer to try and snipe bid towards auction end. They're entitled to of course but as a seller it's risky letting the auction run to the end without a reserve as you may end up being forced to sell for little or nothing.
Ebay fees are beyind a joke nowadays aswell.

Between their fee's and being forced to use PayPal (who I have a pathological hatred for) I gave up on using that site ages ago.

Aye, there's no great selling alternative though is there?

Facebook selling sites..Not sure what you got over there Phil .Theres about 20 I'm on where I am.
Most stuff sells quickly and cash in your hand in no time..No fees.
I stil buy a lot off eBay but don't sell hardly anymore on there,,
Combination of the Facebook sites and the Fees the main reasons..

Can anyone help me as I am not that clued up on ebay or paypal. Someone has bought an item off me and is saying that they have paid however the payment has not gone through Paypal, I am told on my ebay screen that the payment is being processed by Paypal and there is an egg timer on the payment icon. The buyer has told me to check my Paypal settings as he thinks I may have to confirm the payment but there is nothing on my Paypal. Basically don't know why the payment has still not went through so I thought RAWK could help me  :D

Also, with some items such electronic bits and pieces, ebay/paypal will withhold the cash until feedback has been left.

I believe its pretty random but I was caught out by it a year or two ago when I sold a camera.

I don't think its necessarily, if you are a new user. I've been registered on ebay since 2001 and have never had a negative feedback but the same happened to me, was informed that it is completely random.

sold a camera yesterday,pentax k-x
buyer
Hi - I have successfully bid for your Pentax DSLR.  The bid was pretty much 'spur of the moment' (which is fine!) but I just have a couple of queries before I receive the camera ;-).  I see the accessories/extras in the images on the listing but no mention of the manual, software, batteries and memory card for the camera - are these included in the sale?  If not, it would be really useful to know which of these are not included so that I can start looking around to obtain them, if I can.  I have only used a digital compact until now, no experience of a DSLR so I will probably need them to get going and get the best out of the camera.  Look forward to your reply, Thanks - Peter.

my reply

hi,,i do have a manual i printed off line if you want,,this would be 10 pound extra though,,they are very hard to get,i didnt have one when i bought the camera.you can download the software online .google search will find it for you,,there is a firmware update available too for the camera which ive not installed, but ti is available,,search the forums for advice on that,,,batteries and memory cards are available on here, its worth spending a bit on them,,i use 2500mah rechargeable ones..and a class 10 memory card ..,,perfect entry level camera this is for you,,if you could pay asap please so i can arrange a courier,,ive a few things to send so want to do it all together,,hope this helps,,

his reply

Not too helpful and not exactly a straight answer - I assume then that the batteries and memory card have been taken them out of the camera so I will have to buy those extra?  The Pentax K-x software is not available online - I've searched - only updates which require the original to be already installed.  No - I don't think I wish to pay £10 extra for the manual - hope you continue to find it useful.

my reply

im sorry you dont find that helpful,i would not include my memory card as i paid a lot and has a lot of stuff on it,,as im sure you would not sell yours to some one else...the batteries are also not listed in the listing as you can see as i use them for my other camera, ive never actually used the manual and had forgotten all about it till you mentioned,,ill throw that in for you free of charge for you,,if you dont wish to purchase thats absolutely fine with me,,please say so so i can cancel the transaction

ps,,
software available here
http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/download_digital.html

firmware here

http://www.ricoh-imaging.co.jp/english/support/

but as i said,if your not happy please dont buy,,many thanks

awaiting reply,,,i actually am hoping he wont pay now ,,i can tell hes going to find some fault with it,,id rather keep it now,,,

i probably should have thrown the m anual in,on reflection

but what a twat,,edit,,his feedback shows proof of buying lenses so methinks he has plenty of experience of dslrs

I had something similar with a chap that bought a canon dslr off me in the summer.

The listing made no mention of instruction books but once he received the camera he wanted to know where it was. I was sure that it was on one of the discs in the package but like I said, it wasn't listed as being part of the auction, just everything photographed.

He became a bit arsey and refused feedback until I sorted him a manual (which I didn't).

Again, as with you, he had a feedback history of photography equipment, to the point I thought he was some kind of trader perhaps.

Cock.

Thanks for your replies.  As before - the software from the Ricoh site is an update and requires an earlier version to be installed.

I feel very uncomfortable about this sale and would likely be checking the camera and lenses closely for "issues".  I do not wish to purchase if you are prepared to cancel the transaction - please confirm.

If you change your mind and do not wish to cancel, please tell me - I shall then pay via Paypal later this week.

If I were you I'd take a load of pictures of it before you send it out, maybe on top of todays paper, and then when you send it out (take pics of the packaging too) send him a copy of all the pictures so he knows he can't fuck you, and tell him you have even more.

Personally I'd be inclined to email eBay and include his email about him going to find a fault and see if they will cancel it so he can't leave negative feedback.
