This wild card game between the Cubs and Rockies has gotten real strange in extra innings here.

Between Contreras getting hurt in his at-bat, the umpire calling time-out real late right before Oh threw a big 2-2 pitch, and Baez hugging Arenado (who responded by reciprocating and patting Baez on the back) to prevent any DP, this is some weird shit.

Hug-gate will be all the new rage.

And the Cubs have used Lester, Hamels, and Hendricks tonight.  Brewers must be having fun watching this.

I wish i watched that game, looked to have a lot of drama in it.

Shocked to read the other day about Chris Davis having the worst ever batting average ever at .168 by someone with 500+ plate appearances to go with a -2.8 WAR, his hitting has been declining at a bad rate the last 3 seasons and he's 31 years old, he also has 4 years $92 million left.

He was in a 1-37 slump and the Orioles still played him (I guess they wanted him to get that unwanted batting average record :D) and benched him for the last 3 games ::), just another example showing them to have the front office in baseball, trading Manny Machado at the all star break instead of last off season where they could have got some prime prospects was another stupid move by them.

I'll be watching the Yankees A's match tonight, should be a absolute slug fest.

Yanks v Red Sox then. Hope the Yanks win, love to see them have a rematch with the Astros. Verlander v Judge, Stanton et al. Chapman, Britton, Bettances and Green against that stacked Houston lineup. Make it so!

Aaron "Fucking" Boone.

Terrible in game management, bringing Severino out in the 4th with the bullpen not even warmed up after he threw nearly 70 pitches and gave up 3 runs in 3 innings, then lets him load the bases in the 4th. :butt

Shocking from Boone.

Even more shocking is it's being reported that Severino started warming up at 7.32 when the first pitch was at 7.40,they think Severino thought the first pitch was at 8pm. :butt

What a clusterfuck all around,The NYC media are going to go nuts tomorrow.

I read that, too. Did no one look around the bullpen at 7 and say, "Hey, anyone seen our starting pitcher?"

Any hope for the Dodgers this year? Or are they worse than last year?

Is the winner likely to come from the AL?

Oh yeah, under no illusions about LA! Just wondered if they're any good this year.

Astros are acceptable, not sure I can like Milwaukee much. Irrational dislike of Wisconsin

Dodgers are always dangerous because they have a payroll that means they can stash position players and arms season in season out.

Milwaukee have some players that I like. Would be good to see a small market team win it too. 5 of the last 6 winners have been from massive states/cities.

Craig Kimbrel went for the "Fernando Rodney Experience" strategy for the 9th but the Sox survive.

A walk, a single, a strikeout (Stanton looking silly again), a walk, a HBP, a Sac Fly to the warning track, and a dribbler that Torres was so close to beating out at first (correct call upheld upon review).

Yankee killer Steve Pearce with 2 hits and a great stretch on the final play at first to ensure the out.

The supposed only constant in the Sox bullpen making it as interesting as possible.

Astros are probably the best team in Baseball again.  It should be a good series with the Red Sox but I’d think the Astros are favorites to win the World Series again.

Cooler players with cold bats. 😂

That figures.

Boston the better team in the division but I backed the Astros to win the whole thing again as it's an experienced young team that has everybody fit again.

That's an unbelievable take from Barnes to walk in a run. Don't give a fuck if it's intentional or not, that was ridiculous. Vast majority of hitters are swinging right over the top of that.

Then Milwaukee turn a good double play. Proper baseball this.

Gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Sox! :thumbsup

Gonna be tough though, as Houston is the defending champ & has a fantastic team. First time since the 1942 World Series that 2 teams with 103 wins each or more have met in the postseason.

He will go to Cooperstown but play-off baseball is full of surprises even with an ace on the mound and cruising into the 5th on 61 pitches and one hit.

No explanation for suddenly walking batters on ball after ball giving up 2 runs on a hit, 3 walks and a wild pitch to tie the game. Such is his belief and composure he finished the inning and came out in the 6th to get 3 groundouts before being taken out.

Pressure is there all the time in these games.

Sign of a great pitcher though. Bore down and fought off the really big inning before cruising in the 6th. Every time he's out there it feels highly unlikely the other team will score more than 2 and I'm pretty sure he's 4th all-time now for post season victories. There simply isn't anyone I'd want to hand the ball to in a critical situation more than Verlander.
