Stop Making Sense (1984) - Wildcard
One of the greatest concert films ever from one of my favourite bands. The suit, the lighting, the performance, the music, all out of this world. And while it's easy to
just look at this as a great band being great on stage, it's also edited and filmed with real artistry. From the moment we see David Byrne's shadow come out from the light, as the camera intimately follows him walking on stage alone, radio in hand, we know this is going to be something special. The whole show is like a narrative, with each song adding an additional layer to the story. Few music films since have come close to capturing the energy and the feeling of being in a rock concert to the level this one did. Not to mention the pioneering in live sound recording this allowed. Just perfection on film in every facet.
