I'm hoping that it's built like a tablet of chocolate, and I can break it down into half a dozen or so iPhone shaped pieces for ease of use. :wave

i'm not a fanboy, i'm just a realist

i have no doubt the device will be stunning, have some fantastic touches and be great

if it's true that it supports iphone apps then that's a lot of apps to start with and a massive advantage over other tablets on the market

It's nigh but a myth this iPad®.

Tomorrow Steve Jobs will be revealing that he is actually Jesus and will be pulling iPhone v4s out of his arse to a stunned but slight aroused audience of Wall Street Geeks.

He will also be producing another act of mystical wonder when he turns the moon into a giant Apple logo later tonight.

Millions around the globe will recoil in self pity as our beloved iPhones are no longer the coveted hand devices we all thought they were and bow down to yet another stroke of god like genius from the semi munched golden delicious.

A chorus of a million men will rise into the sky...

"oooooohhhhh... I want one".

There is a disgusting amount of hype surrounding it.

How true. I'll no longer have the coolest gadget around :(

I, for one, will not be buying one, as I can't imagine it being much more than a really large iPhone, and just as locked down. If that is the case, I'd rather have a cheapo netbook.

I'll not be getting one but I'll still be impressed by it. Personally I think they're a very impractical device for 90% of people. I like a laptop because, shock, I can rest it on my lap.

This thing you cannot do that, you'd have to hold it with a  hand or pull your knees up to get a good viewing angle or else you'd fuck your neck.

You bought yours as a lap warmer, less fussy than a cat and can still purr once the HDD spins up.

Good point - I think the problem with all tablets is that they are basically glorified clipboards. If they've really cracked handwriting character recognition I can see it working - but if you have to type with a virtual keyboard with one hand while you hold it you might as well have a laptop.

I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it.

I've got an iRack for mine. It's actually a magazine stand from IKEA with an Apple sticker stuck on the side for when I've got the MBP hooked up to the TV (like tonight for the game). Because the DVI and power are on opposite sides, it's an arse to stand it up when using

a flash site

to watch the footy and have the damn thing hooked up without cooking something.

I usually place a clothes maiden over it too to help with the drying.

A mac net-book with a hi-def screen, excellent battery life, and a way to make e-books and e-magazines appear sexy, perhaps with some sort of feedback system for the virtual keyboard.

It should have HDMI out and at least 250gb memory built in. Maybe some way for you to mount it, so you don't have to look down at your lap.

I just bought a netbook for £299, so why do I need this...

...over to you Apple.

Mmhmhmmh. Perhaps it's just me (I like clipboards), but I'm not sure that's a massive problem. I think it'll be more comfortable propping the tablet between one hand and your leg than trying to balance a note/netbook on your lap.

I think it'll be designed very much for one-handed operation with the other to hold it. They might even include some assistive-technology for fast, one-handed text-entry. This'll be tricky to learn, but ultimately faster than a virtual keyboard. Perhaps something like Dasher.

My mate Burl was going to get one on day one, but his backpack got nicked with his MBP in it, so he had to spend the money on one of those instead.

Nope, curious to see what it is, but this iPhone rips the shit out of my bank account enough as it is. Saving up for a new desktop anyway.
It'll sell to people who have money to throw at useless things and to those Apple devotees you occasionally get. Unless there's something awe inspiring announced tomorrow. Looking at a 27 inch iMac instead, purely due to me falling in love with the display. Still that'll rip the shit out of my account too.
