The first series is brilliant, the second series is awful, so don't watch it. The show moved to Sunday afternoons for the second season and so the entire plot had to be rewritten from scratch at the last minute, and it just doesn't hold up to the first series.

My avatar is from Code Geass as well. You can watch the second season if you like but you will notice it's distinctly shit, especially compared to the relative masterpiece season one was.

I just completed watching the Code Geass series. Strange, I somehow though season 2 was better than season 1. We get to see different facets to Lelouch's character in season 2. After the first season , I thought they were going to take him the Yagami Light route and make him into a power-hungry monster, but the end was indeed pleasantly surprising. I mean, it is very cliched at times, but somehow the sheer brilliance of its direction makes you overlook those flaws.

And I've completed three-fourths of the Hungry Heart anime as well. Its decent. I used to be a fan of captain tsubasa as a child. And I watched this just to remember the old times. And so far, it hasn't let me down.

I'm thinking of picking up The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. The art looks top-notch and after skimming through a few descriptions of its plot it looks deeper than the usual fluff. Anybody else like it?

i'd just be extremely pissed if a certain lady with a certain tattoo is killed off. has eden of the east been subbed already btw? :)

GG subbed it, and the series has just finished now (11 episodes), with two movies to finish the series coming along in November and January.

Overall it was a pretty good series, the best of 2009 so far easily. Very good mix of comedy, romance, serious plot, character development, etc, and luckily all the characters are in their 20s so there's none of the typical shounen indecision and wangst (apart from one character who's a bit of a dick).

I'd recommend it to everyone. Eden of the East, go watch it now!

Exactly what I thought after watching the first ep, promising is certainly the vibe I got. When you see what Juiz can do later on in the series you begin to see the scope of what they can do plot-wise and it excites me for the two big budget films coming along in a few months.

Yeah November and January. Thankfully being so close means they may get released together meaning we can watch them subbed at the same time, rather than waiting for a few months inbetween. Anything you particularly liked plot-wise in Eden? Personally I enjoyed watching the Japanese PM say "uncle" for the paltry bribe of about 60 pence  ;D

As for anime this new season, looks like Bakemonogatari and Canaan are the only shows worth watching, but neither look standout.

Please come back with a new show Sunrise, all is forgiven :'(

@ osiris and anyone else who has finished watching higashi no eden,

just been trawling the forums off from work and i lifted this quite possible scenario from another user. i feel so dumb not noticing it earlier. simple and yet so brilliant...

i repeat- if you haven't watched this brilliant show, please don't read any further.  :)

Spoiler
hey guys i just learned that selecao is the nickname for the brazil national soccer team wow so i guess since akira is 9 would make him the star striker since thats the number the star striker of a soccer team has XD. Also in soccer the supporters of a soccer team are called the 12th man because they drive a team to victory by cheering them on. Another thing in soocer the player that has number 1 is the goal keeper who stops goal scorers from scoreing

Can anyone please explain in a Spoiler tag to me what their interpretation of the ending of Ergo Proxy was ?.

Wonderful animation, great direction and sound, but the story could have been told better, and the ending I felt was rushed, does anyone know/remember what the final battle and the whole thing meant in the end ?.

Spoiler
I understood Proxies created the domed cities, and they themselves were created by a 'creator' but who the hell was the proxy who fought Vincent in the end ? he looked just like him, and who the hell is this 'angel'/clone of Real Mayer ? where did she get her wings ?! she was a walking clone a few minutes before....  confusing !!
[close]

It's a shame, but for me the story was too fragmented, and a couple of the episodes (the game show, and the Smile (Disney) Land) were just seemingly filler.

Wasn't made by Akira Torayama.

I thought the series went downhill when the the hero mantle was passed down to Gohan.

One of my favourite bit was when Cell crushed Android 16's head, sending Gohan over the edge.

Dragon Ball Kai is basically just a better version of Dragon Ball Z - going to be in HD, re-editing it to follow the original story by Akira and probably cutting out a lot of the fillers. (So to answer your question - yeah it should be good). I havent watched it yet though.

To me, Kai looks prehistoric but I'm sure to people who are fans of the original series it look brilliant remastered, my friend who is a fan shares this opinion.

And yes the filler is gone, I think at the point of episode 13, they were at the original DBZ 30. Google "Taka Fansubs" and take what you can from their tracker.

Sadly, so many of the cast suffered such extreme character derailment (Kallen, Nunnally, Ohgi Schneizel) in season two that I can't rate it as highly as R1.

Naruto at  the moment is kick ass. The Anime and the Manga both are great. Bleach at the moment hmmm Anime starting to be interesting again.. but dunno about the Manga the fights are too long.. but that's always the thing with Naruto and Bleach. you can't have them both great at the same time. When Naruto is great bleach sucks but when Bleach is great Naruto sucks :P
As the manager finished his demolition job on United, Emlyn Hyghes raised his hand. 'That's all very well, boss,' he said, 'but you haven't mentioned George Best, Denis Law or Bobby Charlton.' Shanks turned on him. 'You mean to tell me we can't beat a team that has only three players in it?' he said, glowering.

Compare this to One Piece which somehow gets more and more epic as the weeks go by :(

The current goings on in Naruto's manga do deserve respect though, Kisame vs Killa Bee is the first unpredictable fight (it's not over yet imo) for years. I still can't believe it's taken Ichigo about 4 chapters to travel through a garganta though. Typical Kubo.

Just finished the anime were Luffy shouts and knocks everyone out in the stadium fighting those snake birds. Awesome show, resisting reading ahead on the manga atm...

Concerning One Piece I honestly have no idea where that is or was, but at the moment everything is coming together finally, a lot of people are saying at the moment that once this arc is over OP will have surpassed Dragonball Z, I don't really see that happening but I know what they mean.

Dragon Ball - Son Goku and his adventures as a kid. Charming and recommended as an intro to the Dragonball universe.

Dragon Ball Z - Son Goku is now all grown up and with a son, and their adventures against extra-terrestrial relatives and powerful enemies. Split into many sagas (copied off Wikipedia :P):

# 1.1 Season 1: Vegeta Saga
# 1.2 Season 2: Namek and Captain Ginyu Sagas
# 1.3 Season 3: Frieza Saga
# 1.4 Season 4: Garlic Junior, Trunks, and Android Sagas
# 1.5 Season 5: Imperfect Cell and Perfect Cell Sagas
# 1.6 Season 6: Cell Games Saga
# 1.7 Season 7: Great Saiyaman and World Tournament Sagas
# 1.8 Season 8: Babidi and Majin Buu Sagas
# 1.9 Season 9: Fusion and Kid Buu Sagas

Season 1-6 is great, Season 7-9 is a little... ridiculous though still quite enjoyable.

Dragon Ball Z is having a current re-make called Dragon Ball Kai, it's basically everything in Z remastered (not re-drawn, though :() and a lot of the filler is omitted, put in "Taka Fansubs" on google and you can download what they've done for it so far, something like 30 episodes.

I only just got round to seeing Princess Mononoke, and being a fan of Hayao Miyazaki I was really looking forward to it.

Now I know it's almost sacrilege to criticise anything done by him, but I have to say that was very disappointing for me.

The reaction of the characters is just really unrealistic, and not at all what you'd expect if you put yourself in that situation. It was as if a point was attempted to be made (man vs. nature) and yet the film couldn't make its mind up on which side to pick or what overall message was  to be portrayed.

I really like Spirited Away, this one though was a bit of a let down for me.

On a side-note, I've been busy watching some anime series, and managed to complete Trigun and Ga Rei Zero. Two magnificent Anime series (thanks to you lads on RAWK for recommending them) totally got immersed into them, Trigun is my favourite series so far, the way it starts so comedic, camp even, I thought it was going to be too much, but with each episode it got more serious and by the end it was just pure epic.

I also saw Cowboy Bebop and it didn't do it for me, I could care less about the characters, none of them seem to give a damn about each other, no chemistry, a feeling of every man (or woman) for themselves, and just basically no drive, saw the film as well, not much better.

Finally, I just finished Shigurui (Death Frenzy) and the art of that series, the visuals (and audio) was just magnificent. Unfortunately, the story was too disjointed for me, it started on the first episode with a scene, flashback from the 2nd episode onwards, and by the end we reach another ending not related to the first episode ! (I understand that the animated series was only the first 12 parts or whatever of the whole thing) but it was just a shame the story telling for me didn't make sense, but you had to admire the visuals. Brutal and beautiful stuff at the same time.

Warning, Troll Alert.

So, Nick Simmons. Gene Simmons' son. He likes manga. He likes Bleach. In fact he likes Bleach so much he made his own manga with various Bleach characters that in are the exact same as they are in Bleach, only they have differently coloured hair. Take a look.
