If he's being asked to head the ball too frequently - which isn't exactly his specialty - it could affect his ear and cause an infection. Especially if the ball hits him on the ear directly.

That guy with tattoos in the audience is definitely Qatari born and bread.
Quatar is a very unusual country. It was ruled by the British until about 1970, when pearl diving was it's biggest industry. It was still mainly nomadic. Then they found oil and in the space of 50 years they went from tribes to cities. So, the population is massively foreign, there are about 300,000 actual Quataries, born and bred, but the actual population is 2.7 million. So, massive ex-patriate population and shit tonne of migrant labour. They only give out about 100 citizenships a year, so there are loads of workers (you have to be sponsored by a company to stay) who have been there for decades who don't have naturalisation rights. Very odd the set up, but it explains why young population looks so diverse.
Beatings will continue until morale improves...

I was thinking exactly the same thing! Even Dion Dublin just referred to them as people in Qatar colours rather then Qatar supporters :D

What are their crowds/atmosphere like in their domestic league?

I know nothing about it tbf but this new 3d offside thing looks dodgy as hell especially because you can't see the whole line.

They are showing the Ecuadorian player being offside when he heads the ball. But he was yards and yards onside when the ball was played, so how is he off? The keeper rushes out mid flight. I must be missing something but not sure where they are saying he’s offside

There is 2 players in that little shot, the one that heads it, and the one that then plays it after that. The leg offside belongs to the one who plays the ball next

I think it was the guy who was furthest away from the camera. The keeper came for the ball and punched it onto the head of an attacker. They must have deemed that to be a pass and so the other attacker was offside. He then headed the ball back to another attacker who crossed it it for the goal.

Apparently the stadium is only about half full now (according to a Beeb reporter).

Great to see the host nation, when the host team is playing the opener in world football's showcase event, leading by example in how the modern game is "supported". Great commitment there from the home "fans". Just wow.  ::)

Feel even worse for Mane now.  Reckon Senegal would be a lock to advance if he were playing.  Plus, he'd get 3 or 4 goals against Qatar too.

Ecuador and Senegal seem a toss-up for second here.
