Nobody looking forward to Status Quo then?

Saw them at the Empire Pool, Wembley in 1972.

Seen one gig, you've seen them all  ;D

They’re dead

They play in Germany tonight and Zurich tomorrow, doing Sunderland and Leeds next June. While Francis Rossi keeps breathing they will keep going.

Peter Moore has said that we may put a new planning application in for the Anfield Road Development:

Maybe not Jurgen's style of heavy-metal music.

Bon Jovi on playing at Anfield and Jurgen Klopp's music taste

Jon Bon Jovi spoke out about his much-anticipated concert in Liverpool next year.

The iconic artist will be stepping out in front of 50,000 fans in the Kop in one of the first concerts at Anfield for a decade.

And as Jon returns to the UK for the first time in six years, he says how he remembers vividly the last time he visited Liverpool for the Royal Variety Show, in 2007.

He said: “Between the soundcheck and the show, there was nothing to do…so we started driving around the town in our smart jackets and ties to try and find John Lennon’s childhood home.

“To our surprise, we found it and went and knocked on the door. It was all being refurbished at the time and wasn’t open. But amazingly they let us in and we all got pictures of us in his childhood bedroom. It was very special memory to say the least.”

For Jon, he understands the significance of the occasion – not least as he is good pals with Liverpudlian legend Sir Paul McCartney, one of the last to play the iconic sporting venue more than a decade ago.

They met up last month and Jon shares recent pictures of the pair of them on his mobile phone relaxing on a sun-kissed veranda.

“I have always loved the Beatles – my mum had the records and I have been blessed over the years to have become friendly with Paul.

“I am fortunate to see him every summer. I only address him as Beatle Paul. I don’t address him as Paul. I want to say Mr McCartney but I am a little too old for that.”

As for the Anfield show next June, he said: “I will tell him about that – I know he’s performed there too; there isn’t much Paul hasn’t already done. He is the benchmark.”

Jon says he’s been trying to soak up as much information about Liverpool football club before the dates next summer..

“I know the team is beloved – at least by the red half of the city - and a lot of people over here in the US like them.

“While I will have to plead the fifth amendment when it comes to football generally, I’ve heard Liverpool are winning a lot at the moment. I know the manager’s a fan too of the band which is great.”

Bon Jovi play Liverpool, Anfield Stadium June 19th, London Wembley Stadium June 21 and Coventry Ricoh Arena June 23rd 2019. https://www.livenation.co.uk/artist/bon-jovi-tickets

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife-news/bon-jovi-playing-anfield-jurgen-15341324
And all the world is football shaped, It's just for me to kick in space. And I can see, hear, smell, touch, taste.

Strong rumours going around that 2019 Rugby League Magic Weekend will be at Anfield, those who don't know the format, this is where every fixture from 1 round of Super League matches are played in the same stadium over 2 days, which had been held at Newcastle for the last few years, the fixture is normally held towards the end of May, last Liverpool match of the season is 12th May, home to Wolves.

We'll already have collected our trophy, but I don't want to see it the season after Widnes got relegated.

It could be a really good money spinner for the club.

The season Widnes go down, after a shitload of trips up to Newcastle...bloody typical.

Hopefully it'll bring in a few quid.

Well if the pitch is going to be destroyed by Summer concerts then a load of rugby matches aren't going to make more difference.

The groundstaff are going to have fun relaying the turf in time for next season.

The question I have is that the club spent a fortune on a brand new pitch at the end of last season with loads of plastic fibres in. It is also grown on site rather than being bought in and laid. Is this move to non-football events going to impact how we think about the pitch surface in future?

They don't relay the turf, they strip it and reseed. It'll only need 4 weeks for that to happen in full so as long as there's nothing on there from the start of July it won't make a difference. It won't impact the pitch or it's quality at all.

The pitch is always stripped back and reseeded in the summer, a few games of rugby before they do this, and concerts where they cover the playing surface, will no impact on this.

I've been told that there's a stripper on the pitch, so a few more of those and no one will be paying attention to the impact it has.

With the Rugby and the Pink/Bon Jovi concerts, along with talk of a Calum Smith fight with GGG, Anfield is shaping up to be a real summer cash cow for the club!

From the sounds of things it has been a massive success. Looks like transport to and from the ground is an issue but got to get used to non-match goers to know where the stadium is.

Big thing will be how the local residents thought it went. See if the club can get 6 events a summer.

I'd love to see them get the boxing in there.

Traffic was a nightmare yesterday picking up Mrs Duds

All the usual cut throughs for the football were empty though so once you got away from the lemmings just walking in the road was all good and quick

Hopefully get six events next year. I’m doing the stadium tour in a week or so and am keen to see the pitch and clean up
