He should be known as Ronaldo. Not the real Ronaldo or the fat one. He is the original and superior football. The best striker for me in my lifetime.

Ferguson is indeed a horrible man for these comments. Classless, but what would you expect from him?

I see Ferguson is still bitter about the hatrick Ronaldo scored in 2003.

Honestly think he's probably going senile.  But he's been so successful that people simply refuse to acknowledge it.

Very disappointed in him - he's achieved so much in the game that it's sad to hear this level of cynicism. Stop it  and soon is my advice.
There is nothing wrong with striving to win, so long as you don't set the prize above the game. There can be no dishonour in defeat nor any conceit in victory. What matters above all is that the team plays in the right spirit, with skill, courage, fair play,no favour and the result accepted without bitterness. Sir Matt Busby CBE KCSG 1909-1994

Classless arse in classless comment shock.  Nothing this supposed knight of the realm comes out with surprises me, he's just a spiteful old man.

As for Ronaldo, best centre forward I've ever seen, absolute legend of the game.

He really is an absolute twat, will never have any respect for him as a person. Ronaldo is one of the great players and I think old Fergie is still bitter about his team being massacred by him in 2003

Does anyone have the footage of Ronaldo against Fiorentina in his first season with Inter?  It's at the San Siro and the Fiorentina defenders are literally trying to kick the shit out of him.  It's like the Nani red card x100.

But the 'Fat One' just takes it and is almost goading them.  I fell further in love that day.

Don't think it is mate, it's the 97/98 season.  He's on the left side.  The defenders are just flying in.

I hate the senile old bag of shit for disrespecting one of the greatest off all time. I remember that tit Henry Winter calling him 'fat' and I gave him a shed load of abuse and he tweeted back it was a joke.

Ferguson doesn't remember when Ronaldo scored a hatrick and the "theatre of dreams" gave him a standing ovation?

You forgot the criminally underrated Fernando Redondo.

I didn't think it was possible to admire Ronaldo anymore than I did already but has it actually been confirmed he (ferguson) uttered those words?
It's true to say that if Shankly had told us to invade Poland we'd be queuing up 10 deep all the way from Anfield to the Pier Head.

Yeah someone asked him about Christiano prior to Tuesdays game and he said something to the effect of "he was a complete centre forward was Ronaldo. The older one, the fat one..."

It would be amazing to hear anyone else come out with that, but with Ferguson you just expect it.  It's the sort of thing you'd really expect to read on redcafe or something, really, not at all how a supposed legend of the game should talk about one of the best to ever play.

I think it's a matter of motivation at this point.

Grossly overweight he still put a bunch of great shots in for Corinthians 2 years ago. I believe he'd be fit to play now but his motivation isn't there any more.
