Hiddink is to manage the Ivory Coast during the World Cup before moving on to manage Turkey.

Guus Hiddink agrees to coach Ivory Coast at World Cup, say reports

• National broadcaster says Hiddink will take job for two months
• Coach's agent believes he needs to end contract with Russia

The Dutch national broadcaster NOS says that Guus Hiddink has agreed to coach Ivory Coast in this year's World Cup.

NOS says the Dutchman will lead Ivory Coast from 15 May to 15 July before taking over as Turkey coach. In its report but he that before signing with Ivory Coast, Hiddink must first confirm that his contract with Russia has been ended.

The Dutch daily De Telegraaf quotes Hiddink's agent, Cees van Nieuwenhuizen, as saying that the negotiations with Russia are a barrier to the Ivory Coast deal.

Hiddink coached Holland to the World Cup semi-finals in 1998, South Korea to the same stage four years later and led Australia at the World Cup in Germany four years ago.

Guus simply loves the short-term jobs, doesn't he?  Can't blame him:  no pressure to sign players, and be judged on them, just get in, do the best you can under reduced expectations, and get out.  The Ivory Coast job is a no-lose situation.  They're in a tough group, and if they don't qualify for the knock-out stages, well, he did his best in a limited time with the team.  If they do get through (which they are more than capable of doing) then old Guus is a genius again.

I wasn't planning on going to this tournament, otherwise would have put aside Ł1500 for it but wow, that would be one hell of an experience.

BBC taking a gamble on England getting out of their group. ITV to show Englands first 2 group games with BBC showing the 3rd and final game. But if England get out of their group then the BBC have bagsied the last 16 and quarter finals as long as England make it that far.

I went to about 12 games in Germany, and not once did they ever check ticket vs ID. Everyone gets in with a ticket. And some with a bit of brains gets in without a ticket!

A friend knows 2 England fans going to the World Cup for the whole tournament plus an extra 2 weeks. Fuck me, but they have bought a farm house for fuck all money! Not rented, but bought it! hahahaha . He said they are taking minumum cash, one credit card with a limited amount on there, plain and simple clothes, a 5 pound watch from the market, a St George Flag with Chelsea accross it, and no fancy shit! You gotta hand it to them! They reckon the farm house cost peanuts compared to a Hotel
