There is no VAR until the semi-final. It is pretty much impossible for the officials to see a keeper move off his line unfortunately.

Impossible? All he has to do is stand there and look at the keeper's feet on the line when he hears the ball struck. He was warning the guy so he knew exactly was was going on. If it's impossible I wonder why it's part of his job?

Doesn't always work out that way though, does it? Players often go out on loan and stagnate. Or bother the bench. Or flitter about from loan club to loan club until whatever promise they had has been leeched away by indecision and inconsistency. It's a trickier thing to get right than you are making out.

That's up to every individual how much his desire and dedication is to succeed. Most youngsters don't do well on loan, because they think they are better than that, playing in Championship or whatever. The ones who want to succeed, will keep their head down and work hard whenever the club sends them.

Not always. A lot of them go out with the best intentions. But ultimately, they are young and have little experience.
So if things go poorly, its only natural that a manager will turn to experience. Or a young player loses confidence…which is fragile at the best of times

Or in other cases. They dont fit it. That can happen to anyone of any age…Forlan at United or Salah at Chelsea.

The Foden plan…not that many are as good as he was. But the Foden plan, I suspect has changed a lot of minds on how to develop an elite talent

That's definitely not how Leyton Orient and Milwall see it. One in three ish record in his first professional games. Literally young player of the year at Milwall.

Seems like you're reading too much into the season he broke a bone in his foot while at Norwich and was loaned out soon after recovering to Leicester, on a run to the playoffs, who had a lot of established forwards on permanent contracts (Vardy, Nugent Chris Wood, Beckford).

No, seems like you're making my point for me. He didn't need those stints at Norwich and Leicester, or probably anywhere when you look at the forwards on Spurs books then, to become the player he did.

Not always. A lot of them go out with the best intentions. But ultimately, they are young and have little experience.

Or the Trent plan? If the player is good enough and in the managers plans then they won't loan them out to "develop" them. And there's no evidence that I've ever seen that a player got "developed" to where he was then good enough. Every loan is because the player isn't wanted or needed or some combination thereof. Kind of getting this thread way off subject now but it's just kind of crazy that every year we seen about a dozen youth players get loaned out and just because Elliott ended up being the one that actually came back and did something means it's some accepted path of development. When the reality is that for almost all players its usually the end of their careers or thereabouts with the team that loaned them. And Elliott played as an attacker for Blackburn, not a midfielder. What kind of development is that if he's not even playing the position the club wants to play him in?

I'd hazard if we had sent Jones out on loan he was probably done at LFC long term.

The training camp has been good for him in cementing him as part of the first team. It's like an extra pre-season where the youngsters have the chance to impress which he did in pre-season. Okay if Milner was fit then he probably doesn't get on today but I doubt Klopp would have shown that faith earlier in the season. He's been an unused sub most games.
