I'm stumped by the inscription on the ashtray next to the 96 candle.

Some writing with a date of 25th May 196?  below.

My I pad will only expand so much. Surely 1977.

What are you on about? Shanks, Bob Paisley and King Kenny are there, all won league titles so why the first comment?
Meh, league titles are overrated.  Gerrard and Carragher, Klopp and Henderson.
History is overrated,  the current era is where it's at.

Gerrard and Carragher?
We left some major names that contributed massively to our league success.

Would you like to guess how many fantastic players we've had over the years at this club who have all contributed to the success of it? You will never get everyone on in a month of Sundays, without someone important being left out. I dare say we could all make a list of people we'd have liked to have been added. But they only went for a certain number and they wanted it to link between the past to the present. That is why we have the modern players in it as well.  I would have liked Joe Fagan in considering he won the treble. But on the other hand it is good to see the likes of Tom Watson, Billy Liddell and notably Elisha Scott represented for a change.

At the end of the day its just a picture, and I just find it sad that people want to take offence at it just because their favourite manager or player has been left off it. We've had so many brilliant managers and players at this club over the years. Could we not just celebrate that?

Klopp and Henderson are only there because they are the current manager and Captain. As much as I don't like them being there either, it's understandable that they are. It's celebrating 125 years. Not 98

It’s a bit creepy. Henderson being the creepiest. And including Owen but not Rafa or Fagan ... cos that makes absolute sense right.

Now if Ian Ayre on a Harley had been included all would have been forgiven

Fair enough, though this is only an interpretation of our history via an individual  (or group of individuals).
I don't see it as an interpretation that does justice to our history. I'm sure others have made alternate pieces of art that celebrate our history, however this specific one I happen to not like. As always, it's my opinion. On a forum.

Not saying you cannot have an opinion on it. But how do you do a piece which is supposed to highlight the history of the club, and link it to the present without using some of the modern players? That's the whole point of the piece.

It's meant to be Billy Liddell - I can see the Owen resemblance, but one look at the the chunky 40's shinpads and those legs, there's no way it's Owen.
