Did well I thought, nice touches and hold up at times and a little rusty at others. Probably didn’t help Burnley were trying to rough us up and he was on the receiving end a couple times.
Nice assist too, he and Sturridge are providing contributions and options in the squad which is what we didn’t  have last season.

Nice to see Origi back in action again. He's still only 23. Lots of room and time to improve. I can see him getting promoted to first choice in a couple years.

Never a good thing when such a promising player gets a nasty injury, but to see him come back from it is something special, especially in such a fashion.

When does his contract end? Seen people say he's free in summer but from my understanding he has a contract till 2020 meaning he clearly won't be free in the summer.

Looked a lot better after that goal, at least put some effort in even though he's clearly not the required standard.

A good second half. Excellent finish for the goal and always tried to get involved, also when moved over to the left in the last 15 or so.

So, Ings and Dom are both gone. Sturride doesn't look like he is shaking any trees down and his contract expires in the summer. There have been talks of Divock leaving but reckon we need him as back up. Obviously, we will do some business in the summer but its not guaranteed to get quality in and it costs a fair bit anyways.
Today's performance, even disregarding the goal, should be higher than Daniel in the pecking order?

Worked hard and scored a great goal

It was hard to see what the plan was tonight for me. Was Origi meant to be the 9 with Sturridge as the 10? 2 up top? I couldn't tell but he didn't have a great deal of support up there or great service to be fair. He tried to create and used his pace to look to get into dangerous positions

Agree with this he played as poorly tonight as Sturridge, great goal mind (and will never be forgotten for his 90+6 Derby effort)

I haven't been impressed with the performances from Div tonight or at Burnley, but overall I'm definitely a fan and wouldn't entertain letting him go this window whatsoever. If anything I'd have Origi as an option off the bench before Sturridge.

While going out of the cup might represent less football for him, the reality is Bobby and Salah aren't going to finish 19 more games of football, with the possibility of more after Bayern. When we'd loaned him out last season there were plenty of games, even ones we won in the end, where I thought, imagine what Origi could be offering here.

What concerned me about him until the goal tonight, was the fact it looked like he was a passenger at best. There was a time in his early months here when he looked like a pretty bad footballer, but worked his fucking arse off. Not sure if there's anything to even read into there, he scored a nice goal but it wasn't enough sadly. I don't think we're quite done with him yet.

Yep, with Origi also able to drift wide and Sturridge to push up at times presumably (if we'd had any possession). Difficult to say how it might have worked out, because we seemed to unravel with Lovren going off. Did Milner over-compensate positionally to protect Hoever? Keita had his moments, but Jones froze and Shaqiri didn't get into the game at all (possibly partly because Milner was supposed to be rather closer to him than 3rd centre back).

Get Divock in and around the box, he can score.

Make him run the channels wide and he's a willing runner. But that's not where to get the best out of Div.

At least he closes down, tracks back, and clears balls out of the box when defending.

So he is more than useful.

Fair play to him, looked good out there. Runs the wing well, good first touch, always presses and isn't the worst finisher. Only thing Sturridge has going for him over him is his ability to create something from nothing.
Pretty happy with Arse taking it.

Disappointing.

i think its hard to judge origi on last nights game. you never get a true indication when the whole team has been changed - theres not the same solid base in defence or fluidity in attack. he chased back in second half and his goal was very good. i still think theres a decent player in there. i think moreno and sturridge are lost causes, origi is worth persevering with a bit longer

Would like klopp to give origi more chances in our league games. He seems to score quite a number of unorthodox goals and could give our team a new dimension in attack.

Done well yesterday in my opinion. Worked hard, ran down the flanks chasing long balls and even chased back to defend also. Worked harder than sturridge for me and for that has gone up in my pecking order of strikers. Sturridge on the other hand i have now lost my patience and could care less if he doesn't play again til the end of the season.

Our players hitting long diagonals up to him in the first half...  ::)  He might be a six footer but he jumps a foot below the ball even when it's a free header - it's just not his game.

As Solanke has gone it looks like he's here for the rest of this season at least.  His hold up and link up play is generally decent, he works the channels well and he can strike a ball well off either foot so all-in-all he's not bad for a third choice forward!  As he's not shown it by now it's likely he never will but a bit more aggression and he'd be a real handful.

Personally I'd keep him over Sturridge if we were to sell only one.

Sturridge was amazing in his prime, but that period is over. Divock contributes in some way or another when he plays and he still has room for growth, he's only 23 years old.

Sturridge is out of contract at the end of the season. Origi is out of contract next year so unless he's happy to be on the bench another year it will be a choice of getting a few million quid for him this summer or get nothing from him at the end of next season.

No chance, not on loan anyway. If someone was to offer £30m+ maybe things would change but now Solanke has gone, Origi won't be allowed to go till the end of the season.

Origi is the option B player we need, but unless we suddenly unlock the player he was for those few months before his injury in 2016 I can't see him having a future here.
