my only slight fear is that I hope they don’t make Greg a parody of himself. He was perhaps a tad too stupid in that episode as funny as it was  ;D

So glad it’s back. Great start to the season. Really thrilling tv.

It’s the ultimate ‘family’ show so perfect time to watch. Maybe you rename all your family members after characters in the show.

BOAR ON THE FLOOR! BOAR ON THE FLOOR!

(Sometimes I had to rewind scenes because I could not believe what was going on.)

Been rewatching the first two series ahead of the new one. I'd forgotten all about that episode. It's horrific. But brilliant.

New series is off to a fine start. I just hope they don't try to ramp up Greg as a comedy character too much. One of the big strengths of the show is that it's very funny but most definitely NOT a comedy.

Episode 2 was another highlight.

Jesse Armstrong has really mastered the art of having a character say all the right things, but

saying them like an asshole (and thus self-sabotaging his/her intent)

And the occupant of said clown car with a subtly masterful performance, Connor Alan Ruck (No idea from where Connor came)  is killing it this series...

It's so frustrating when they're all in a room together like that and they can't work it out. If they all just banded together you know they could take Logan down but there's always something that scuppers it, whether it be one of them going too far with an insult or a case of donuts arriving and the whole thing falls apart. It's like they're all so irrevocably damaged by Logan that they're paralysed when it comes to the idea of doing anything against him.

Yeah I think that’s the point, despite their bravado sometimes they’re all still quivering children living in fear, despite being in their 30’s and 40’s.

With that said, I do think another one is actually with Kendall not sure who though (or maybe that’s wishful thinking)

I loved that Logan barely remembered sending his kids donuts while the fear of the donuts being poisoned probably broke a potential alliance of maybe Shiv and Connor with Kendall. Or perhaps he knew exactly what he was doing.

Jeremy Strong was fantastic in this episode. Just keeping the obvious self-loathing and overcompensation on the right side of the line and as you say the final few minutes he was mesmerising.

Something I like: Tom hasn't a clue, obviously, and flounders around the big egos, but within the slightly hyper-realised world of the show it's fully believable someone with his personality, ability to make shit roll downhill and capability with bullshit would be able to hold down that job and fail upwards. See how he goes from crapping his pants to tell Logan what he wants to hear to bullying Greg to schmoozing the advertisers. What I'm saying is he's a great example of how realistic these grotesque parodies are and it just works so well. We all know those kind of arsekissing bullies.

Yep, mesmerising is the right word.

Tom also has the best lines, my favourite from this episode being: “The DOJ is going to be like a combine harvester in a wheat field of dicks”
