I think Bale definitely did not say that (staying to play golf) and there appear to be doubts over Zidane made the comments about the substitutes too.

However, he does appear to be on his way out. Would they consider loaning him out or would they want to recoup cash for him? I can only see Man United spending the £50m+ it would cost to get him. Maybe Chelsea if they didn't have the ban?

Can Chelsea do any swap deals? I guess not... and those things rarely happen anyway, for how often swap deals are touted.

It would be interesting to see what he could do in the PL now - he is obviously a brilliant footballer but he is at the stage where his body is starting to let him down. Coming back to such an intense League would be interesting.

Given Bales injury history any club would be mad to spend money on him, or give him a long contract. Surely even United aren't dumb enough after the Sanchez fiasco. Real seem desperste to get rid as well, clubs should be forcing them to loan him out.

You have to think there arent many options out there. As much as people think going to Man Utd is a possibility, I really can't see it happening now. Maybe if Neymar goes the other way to Madrid, he'd go to PSG? I really can't see what other rich club would stump up the cash.  And I'm not sure PSG would be interested either. Doubt Bayern would do it either, they have been making a concerted effort to get younger the last 2 seasons windows.

There's a lot of rebuilding happening with both Milan teams and Juve will have a new manager and be desperate to win the CL.

Bale's a great player but I wouldn't exactly be quaking in my boots if one of our rivals brought him in, with a massive transfer fee and wages for someone turning 30 soon. It seems like something United would do off the back of shirt sales alone. You'll have blues soon saying 'we might as well try our luck with him'  ;D

Wasn't surprised to see him not get a send off yesterday, there's little time in sentiment for a club like Madrid. Truth be told the club and their fans will probably be underwhelmed with 100 goals in 6 years, even if he's not a proper striker. Only 150 odd league games in that time and one title, but to so publicly hate on a man who basically delivered them a European cup last year, and played his part in the 2014 final, is a bit of a joke. It makes me hope that if Liverpool ever get back to a level of success that we were used to in the 70s and 80s, we don't become complete c*nts in the process.

I think in a window where potentially Griezmann / Coutinho or Dembele / possibly Sane / Hazard / Brandt are up for grabs, it's hard to see where he goes permanently. Even someone like Pogba leaving could make it more difficult for him.

If Chelsea lose Hazard and have their ban lifted, then someone like Coutinho or Dembele would be perfect there. Brandt/Sane seem like the type of signings Bayern need, to replace Robben and/or Ribery and Griezmann to Barcelona looks nailed on. Pogba potentially back to Juventus looks like it could close the door for Bale going there - and you could argue someone like Coutinho would be a better choice for them.

Maybe PSG. Or if United could get him on loan then it could be an option. I think United are a bit more wise now, given the burns they have faced - OGS seems like he has identified their points of weakness and the type of players they don't need to be signing. It's whether or not he has a say in that. As you could imagine him appealing to Woodward and co.

I know it's low hanging fruit to mention wages of players as obscene, but 600k in Euros per week?. Properly part of a small pool, but unlikely to go anywhere for less than £200k, so that leaves 2 northwest clubs and PSG, doesn't it?.

He’s been treated like garbage the whole time he’s been at Madrid. I’m sure living in the sun in Madrid softens the blow combines with the wage but it must suck a little bit.

honestly no idea where he goes from here. Madrid are a shithouse of a club so I wouldn’t mind if he just sat out the rest of his contract and couldn’t blame him either

Amazing how badly Bale's treated, he's won them 2 CL on his own with his winning goals.

Also that winner in his 1st season against Barcelona in the Spanish cup final.

I remember how badly the treatment Modric got his first season there.

I don't understand the clamour playing for those 2 teams in Spain, they have the most moronic fickle spoilt glory hunting fans on the planet with a horrible press.

Such a unexciting league as well, playing aginst 16 utter average to shit teams you don't even have to get out of 2nd gear to beat and all you have to look forward to in the league is the El Clasico and city derby matches.

I agree wholeheartedly about Barca and Madrid, but think its a bit harsh on the rest of the league. Look at Valencia this season, great story, looking like relegation candidates at Christmas. Or Getafe nearly making Europe. Sevilla always worth a watch. Aspas single-handedly keeping Celta Vigo up. Atletico always up for a ruck, even if they're boring as shit to watch. You could say the same about us and City laying waste to the PL this season to be honest.

Exactly. For some reason, there is a school of thought that the only thing that defines a league, is the title race, so if there isn't one (as was the case for 3 of the 'big' 5 leagues this season), it means it's shit.  There are so many other elements to a league season that means it can be hugely enjoyable regardless. Be it battles for Europe, relegation battles, derbies and rivalries, watching other not so big teams who actually try and play good football etc. After all, most fans don't support a team likely to be challenging or expected to win the league.

There's no one available who's high profile enough for their spoilt brat fans and who plays a sort of football they'd be happy with. Hopefully they can convince Guardiola to go back.  ;D But not likely. The Ajax manager would be an interesting choice.
