There was an auto correct on a four letter slur for intellectually disabled people, but it was applying to any occurrence of those four letters within acceptable words, like Mongolia or amongst, as illustrated by my post immediately before yours.

I know there is no appetite for discussion around the genocide and I understand that since I wouldn't want to mod it either. It has to be done on some moral level though? Even just a news thread.

How can we pretend this isn't happening? I know it's a football forum but it is a Liverpool football forum.

No one is pretending it isn't happening, people can't control themselves and the threads start to get abusive. Just last week the Russian thread was locked and probably took a long time to clean up because of it. We forget the mods are volunteers who have their own personal lives as well and shouldn't have to clean up the mess that's left behind because people can't behave themselves appropriately in the threads. As they've said multiple times there are loads of places to discuss what's going on and it doesn't have to be on a football forum.

At the very least we should have a news thread, just ignoring it isn't a good look. As for the people who get those threads shut, it's usually folks upset at people posting facts, they then lose their shit and sling the insults before flouncing off at the first chance they get to feign disgust.

the only person i remember consistently getting threads shut by deliberately veering them off limits is you. you've even taken part in conversations about doing that before. not sure why you're projecting that on others

It was just an idea based on,  many seem to want to discuss a certain topic and the mods dont want to moderate it and that topic is seeping into other threads which then get locked.
