Pro Evolution Soccer Series
« on: September 3, 2017, 10:42:22 am »
:buttThe demo is out, anyone played it yet? Think it plays quite nicely, the weight of the ball is the most noticeable thing. It's probably the most spot on it's ever felt in a football game.

Then in the midddle out pops a smiling glen johnson pulling up his jersey to reveal a t-shirt of suarez with a text saying. "OUR SUAREZ IS A FRIEND TO ALL COLOURS!"

I agree but the beta seemed more enjoyable than the demo. Can't wait for the 3v3 online co-op they have got it spot on.

Bit of a let down, the AI midfield and defence seem to stand off when you attack. Hopefully the full game will be different or the inevitable ‘day one patch’ that all games seem to have will sort it.

Had a go of the demo last night, feels like a step back IMO.

The graphics are terrible from a distance, fantastic close up though.

I posted similar in the 2017 thread,

I have played the demo and overall it is very good yet again but I didn't noticed as much as a jump as there was from 2016 to 2017 and I'm doubtful I'll get it for that reason. £40 is a lot for a few tweaks and I have 2017 set up perfectly, all kits, Bundesliga, MLS etc.

I'm enjoying it actually.  Enough for me to pre-order, anyway.

SimplyGames have the Premium Edition for £35, if anyone is looking where to buy it.

Tempted to get this instead of FIFA this year. Never played 2017 or 2016 but played 2015 briefly.

I'll have a go on PS4, won't be able to play too much due to small child but it'd be a laugh.

Doesn't PES hit the bargain basement within like 4-6 weeks of release because they don't sell anymore.

Less people buy it though so it does get cheaper quicker than FIFA does.

I'll wait for the evidence of that. Not releasing a PC demo is a bad sign.

That's cos the last time they released a demo modders unlocked 45 minute halves and unlocked all the teams iirc. All the impressions of the PC version have been really positive so far.

Couldn't bear to let 17 go anyway, and all the kits and classic teams i've downloaded. I'll probably have that game as long as me playstation is running. I'd imagine someone will make an up to date patch for last years game, with all the new 2018 kits and squads anyway

Doesn't look too shabby on PC (at least visually) on the gameplay demos on youtube.  Example:

I don't know how they do it, but they're brilliant - bargain prices and more often than not you get your delivery early (if you remember to pre-order!).

Only played 3 or 4 games so far mate but yeah, it's good.

It feels like they've only tweaked 17, rather than do anything mad, but I absolutely adored 17 so I'm more than happy with that.

Some nice new animations and things, particularly with ways to go past a man (you seem to be able to poke the ball past a player with various parts of your foot, and step around the other side, things like that.  Natural movements and bounces).  Will update when I've played a few more.

Xbox One, I'm on.  A shame I can't download option files but it's not a big deal any more.

Cheers mate, it sounds decent!

Having been a FIFA player for the past few years and the last PES I played was 2015, I'm considering binning off FIFA this year and getting this for PS4.

Last year was the first year I didn't buy FIFA since probably 09, and I had bought all of them from 98 to 07, so I almost always buy it. Didn't buy it last year and don't regret it, really. I'm sure it's good but the same stuff annoys me every year and EA don't seem arsed about fixing the problems. And pace abuse and spawn goals are harder to come by on PES!

The Gamesradar review basically sounds the opposite of that, though I wouldn't necessarily take them over any other review source!

Evolution rather than revolution. I'm happy I bought it but can see why others wouldn't.

Played a few more matches after posting here last night. Online games are quite a bit faster than in 17, I'm not sure yet if that's better or worse.

I also got stuffed by some idiot using stupid tactics. He was Real Madrid, played a 5-2-3 thing with the defenders pushed way, way back, Casemeiri and Kroos in front, with Ronaldo, Morata and Bale pushed away forward. I dominated possession but didn't manage a shot on target. He had like 12, and scored 3 of them. I wasn't impressed.

Firmino is a boss on this game though, he's rated 83 but they have the individuality just right, he's quality.

Can't wait for the update (assume tomorrow?) so we can get Salah in.

Too true.

I had the AI dive against me last night, and get penalised for it - never had that happen before. It was in the box, last minute, I was about to put the controller through the telly when I realised the ref was pointing the other way. Cool feature.

What's the craic with this online? '18 is a bit too pricey for me at the minute, if I get a £10 copy of '17 is there likely to still be a decent number of people to play against or will most have migrated over to '18?

Looking for something akin to the online seasons on FIFA (without the acute frustration). Not fussed about any other online features really.

Also do edits, patches, updates etc carry over to online?

On PS4.
