Diverging a bit, but you mentioning WFH has triggered this and is the thing which annoys me about this total switch to electric is that its supposed to be 50k miles before the environmental damage caused by the manufacture of the car is balanced out. There are plenty of petrol and diesel cars that get nowhere near that mileage, so have they actually looked at how green doing a total switch to leccy cars really is? I remember Clarkson going on about how the manufacture of the batteries for a Prius did more damage than a Discovery run for 15 years.

I was looking at an EV before Covid, when I'd be doing c18k miles/year, which included a 50 miles round commute to Manchester city centre five days a week. That made the potential fuel saving significant. If I'm only going into the office 1 or 2 days a week going forwards, that takes my annual mileage to about 11k.
A Tory, a worker and an immigrant are sat round a table. There's a plate of 10 biscuits in the middle. The Tory takes 9 then turns to the worker and says "that immigrant is trying to steal your biscuit"

I used to do over 22k a year, Southport to Manchester, now I struggle to do 5k, so I'm sticking with my 2.2 diesel, although I may get a 4.2 XKR before i'm 60.

I am interested in shoving a leccy motor in a big Jag though, if the cost was worth it and I could find one with a blown engine.

You jammy git, well jealous.

We went the Albert Dock when the RAC had its Parc Ferme there, 1986. This was the last days of Group B, so we got right up close to the 205T16s, Quattros, RS200's and 6R4's, Tony Pond actually hit my brothers knee with his 6R4 as he drove in. The photos must still be in the house in Southport, I know I've got one of the inside of an RS200 and pics of Kankunnen talking to his mechanics as they worked on his T16.

The last rally day I did was in a Skoda Fabia, and that was quick enough.

Amusingly, my instructor for the day was doing the hot lap at the end, showing me just what the car could do, and he promptly binned it.   ;D

Great stuff mate.

He had a plaque on the dash that read Speed must not exceed 170mph

Think it is yes. It got parked up when he got too old to drive it, he died when he was 96. If its worth £454k in that condition, what is it worth restored, £1 to £2 miilion? The 6 cars were built using new old stock parts to keep the workers busy, this one is the only one that is still original, original bodywork and engine. Its actually a 4.5 Ltr.

Gonna read that in the morning mate. I had a quick click and Vanden Plas stood out. Renowned as a top model.
Shame about the seats.
Look at that wooden dash though, and the instruments. Everything will be individualised like oil pressure, temp, rev counter, etc.

A beast, never to be reincarnated.

I've been playing Forza Horizon 4 this last week and the amount of cars in that that would be on my dream shopping list is crazy (haven't quite got the in game funds to start splurging but an F40 is top of the list), as well as past cars I or my family have owned (or close enough models) to tinker about with. I've remade and souped up my first ever Mini to go bombing around the Scottish countryside with, as well as my mum's old bright red Escort XR3i. RS500 next (been hoping to win one off the wheelspins).

I'm on a Jaguar forum and one of the members has picked up an X-Type saloon, turns out it should have been crushed not sold, as it was an SVO car and is fitted with a 3.0L Supercharged engine, although there is a thought that it is actually a 4.0L. A few of these cars "escaped" and are still running.

This one found its way to Australia, 5.8 sec 0-60 and 175mph top speed.
