Yep, it won't be until the end of the month, or early February before you notice the mornings getting lighter, sunrise is around 8.25am at the moment.
Very true and it's then that you really notice the lengthening days.

Hahaha I've walked the dogs and had breakfast before 8 [emoji16]

Spring and summer I'm up with Jo at 6, this winter I just cannot get out of bed.

Unfortunately the dogs are like clockwork at getting us up around 6 and its easier to just take them out.

Plus it's quieter at that time in winter and we have good torches.

That is great rob, I love it when parents take the time to teach their kids to cook properly, its so much better than relying on takeaways and just buying processed foods full of crap.

Yeah, far too much food is processed and I want him to not be like her brother who left home unable to even boil an egg (their Ma did everything for them) and he has basically lived on takeaways for 30 years and its shows.

My lad actually enjoys cooking too which helps. He's made some good stuff too, I taught him how to cook a steak,  from school recipes he's made savoury rice, cookies, scones, biscoff swiss roll, he did me a brilliant french toast with berries for fathers day. I'm going to teach him to make meatballs with the left over mince and I do a meal with peppers, onions, mushrooms and chicken, throw various spices in and then finish off with cream which I will teach him.

All helps when he is an adult and especially when he starts dating.

My mum is 80 so should be getting her vaccine very soon. I'll breathe one hell of a sigh of relief once she's had it because last March I wasn't sure how I'd get her through all this, given her age and underlying conditions.

The irony being all these over-80s will soon be arranging warehouse raves and necking bottles of sherry while the rest of us will be stuck at home in lockdown.

Great, isn't it.  ;D

Both ours can cook and are pretty good now, both early 20's.
We never taught them formally, but they'd watch and ask and then try it themselves, sometimes asking for a bit of guidance along the way.
Daughter has gone from being extremely fussy to eating things we never thought possible. She's mainly veggie, but vegan in Januarys and cooks up some fantastically tasty stuff.
Son isn't veggie, but massively into cooking healthy stuff from scratch.
They both really care about what they eat and we know that they'll never starve and never be reliant on junk or processed crap.
Financial education and food education/nutrition would save the country a fortune in the long run.

Seeing them both cook makes me happy - even more so when they cook for me  ;D

Ok so I was a bit hasty in posting this

She was supposed to get it yesterday but what I didn't know was the tests they made everyone take before they could come in I guess, a carer and one of the residents tests came back positive, so it's all been delayed  :-\  Hopefully will be able to get it soon enough. But glad to hear so many people's loved ones are receiving it or are starting to hear when they might

Sorry, I've only just spotted your post.

She's not in Crosby, though quite nearby but is not getting her jab here. My sister-in-law is a frontline NHS worker and has been told she can nominate two vulnerable people for the vaccine, so she put my mum forward.

She's not heard anything from her GP, so is going for this opportunity to have it done now. My brother will have to drive her to where they live in order to get the jab. He'll have a covid test the night before he collects her.

My friend's parents are in sheltered accommodation in Litherland though, and they are having the vaccine by this weekend, although I don't know who is organising that.

Hopefully your mum and dad will be called to get theirs very soon.

Just watched season 2 of Bear Grylls The Island on streaming. It was great to see the Liverpool lady who worked at the bookies make it all the way to the end.   She reminded me so much of many of my aunts and cousins growing up who spoke and acted just like her. Mixture of self deprecating and humor and a desire to just get on with things and not quit. I thought she was brilliant.

The same crossed my mind regarding my dad who we lost in November 2017. He'd had COPD for years, so I knew it would be curtains if he got Covid. I miss him so much but, in a way, I'm glad he hasn't had to deal with this past year.

Anyway, mum is ready and raring to go for tomorrow. Fingers crossed her vaccination is sorted by dinnertime.  :)

Just to let you know, my mum came back from having her vaccine this morning to find a letter from the NHS telling her she could now book herself a vaccine locally. So, hopefully, your parents should have received the same letter too, or will be about to.

Mum is back home after having her first jab. I'm so relieved.  :D  I'll be raising a glass tonight to those who worked so hard to get this vaccine found and rolled out.

My brother had a Covid test this morning, then took her in the car.

As you can see in my above post, the NHS also sent her a letter today offering her a vaccine locally. That will now go to a vulnerable local instead. Every hour matters with this virus, so I'm glad she's had it now and her risks are reducing as I type.

Hopefully us lot won't be too far behind now.

Great stuff that mate and the pace they're going at I'll be getting mine soon.

I've not checked since before the Oxford one was approved but I'm due end of April to early May and I can't wait.

Just to let you know, my mum came back from having her vaccine this morning to find a letter from the NHS telling her she could now book herself a vaccine locally. So, hopefully, your parents should have received the same letter too, or will be about to.

 :)
Thanks for that. They got a phone call Friday, booked in for tomorrow which is great. Based on anecdotes it felt a bit late, but read today that half of over 80s have now been vaccinated, so it looks like they’re getting through them.
