Just coached my U17s in a horrible game - the ref lost it early on and it's a massive surprise nobody ended up in hospital.
The opposition had one man sent off for an off-the-ball boot into our keepers bollocks, one of our lads got headbutted (and somehow booked for the priviledge), two of their players (and the majority of their parents, it has to be said) spent 90 minutes, shouting, swearing, and threatening anyone related to our club - including me - and there was also apparently an incident involving our other coach and one of their players in the mellee that followed the sending off, but I didn't see what caused it. I saw one of their players pushing our other coach, but don't know about the provocation so couldn't really comment on it.
I have to give massive credit to our lads, as they kept their heads - one of our midfielders is normally a bit of a liability but spent the whole game laughing at the shithouses.
A moral victory there, even if they did nick a late winner. It's a shame though, because teams will go there and come away with nothing because they'll get kicked, bullied, and threatened from start to finish. The amount of bile that was directed at the ref was incredible, and he just bottled dealing with it early on, leading to an absolute shitfest of a game.
Bad day at the office.
